The Toronto Film Festival has named Canadian director Patricia Rose as president of the jury for the Platform 2022 competition.
Rosema, whose directing credits include I heard the sirens sing, mansfield park and HBO co-writer gray gardensNorwegian-Pakistani filmmaker Iram Haq and Mumbai filmmaker Chaitanya Tamhane will join the jury.

Tamhane’s first feature film, Blockpremiered in Venice in 2014 and his second film, discipleIt premiered in Venice in 2020, where it won the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay, before landing on Netflix.
This year’s platform competition will open with an Emily Brontë film Emily, with sex education Emma Mack stars in the film by writer-director Francis O’Connor and American distributor Blacker Street.
TIFF also previously announced 10 films with world premieres for the festival section, which competes with international films outside the orbit of Hollywood studios. This year’s selection includes Brazilian director Karolina Markovic Coal, Daniel Goldhaber’s environmental thriller How to pop a tube and two Canadian titles: Anthony Shimmy The Riceboys are sleeping and Stephane Lafleur Viking.
Past judges have included Claire Denis, Bella Tarr, Brian De Palma, Mira Nair, Riz Ahmed and Jia Zhang-ke.
The Toronto Film Festival, which runs September 8-18, previously announced the working title and Netflix drama. swimmers, Sally El Hossain’s drama about the inspiring odyssey of the real-life sisters as refugees from war-torn Syria for the 2016 Rio Olympics will open the 2022 edition.
