Band responsible for the classic album Rumors (1977) has not performed live since 2019 and has been inactive since the death of Christine McVie in 2022
THE Fleetwood Mac may come together in the coming years and return to work on projects that would already be discussed behind the scenes at this time. This is the expectation that moves the universe of the band, which has been inactive since 2022.
According to the tabloid The Sun (via Igor Miranda website), there are plans to celebrate 50 years of Rumorsthe group’s classic album, which was released in 1977.
This would be the main reason for the meeting and the indication that the members would agree to work together again. The idea is to arrive with something concrete in 2027.
Among the idealized projects would be:
- a television special;
- a documentary about the album;
- a one-off live show, all supposedly scheduled for two years from now.
End of Fleetwood Mac
THE Fleetwood Mac officially closed activities in 2022 after the death of Christine McVie. The vocalist and keyboardist passed away at the age of 79 after suffering a stroke. She had also been battling cancer.
The Anglo-American band, however, has not performed live for a longer time: since 2019, before the pandemic. The last show was on November 20th of that year, at Oracle Parkin San Francisco, United States.
In 2023, the vocalist Stevie Nicks even declared to the Vulture (via Igor Miranda website) who would not perform with the band again without Christine McVie by his side:
“How am I supposed to look to my right on stage and not see her behind that Hammond organ? When Christine died, I realized we really couldn’t go any further with this. There’s no reason for that.”
Celebration of Rumors
Rumors, however, are that talks for a return are already underway. Both to honor Christine McVie and also the five decades of Rumors.
The album sold more than 40 million copies around the world and features the group’s main hits, among them “Go Your Own Way”, “Dreams”, “Don’t Stop”, “You Make Loving Fun” and “The Chain”.
