“Wicked”, the unexpected success that is good for cinema
We only had to wait a short year to find out Wicked: Part 2 at the cinema. A year ago, the first part, Evilhas become the surprise success of the autumn. Only in the United States, where The Wizard of Oz it’s an institution, Evil reported almost 500 million dollars. In total, the Broadway musical adaptation grossed $750 millionbecoming the fifth highest-grossing film of the year.
John M. Chu, the director of the two parts, and his actors can then begin promotion Wicked: Part 2 with a light heart. It’s a sure bet that viewers all over the world want to know about the conclusion of the story connecting Glinda and Elphaba.
That’s why you won’t see Dorothy in this sequel

In Wicked: Part 2one thing is certain, we will find the cast of Evil with Ariana Grande and Cinzia Erivo in mind. On the other hand, viewers will not see Dorothy Gale whose story takes place in parallel while she is in the Land of Oz.

“I didn’t want to undo the image that viewers have of Dorothy, whatever story they have in mind. It still tells the story of Elphaba and Glinda, and that Dorothy is just a pawn in the middle of all of this.”
You will have understood it, Dorothy Gale is not the central character From Wicked: Part 2. Therefore, the director has no interest in showing it on the screen.
