‘I quit your movie’: Shia LaBeouf denies being fired from ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

Following Olivia Wilde’s claims, Shia LaBeouf is coming out to dispute claims that the director himself fired him from Don’t Worry Darling when production began in 2020.

Shia LaBeouf confirms this: he chose to leave the director Olivia Wilde’s film “Don’t worry, honey” because he didn’t think the actors had enough time to rehearse.

However, in an interview with Variety published on August 24th, the director revealed for the first time about the actor’s departure from the film and suggested that he fired him.

I say this as a fan of his works. His process was not conducive to the ethos that Irequires in my works. It has a process that somehow seems to require combat energy, and I personally don’t think it’s conducive to the best performance. I believe that creating a safe and trusting environment is the best way to make people. Ultimately, my responsibility to the production and the actors is to protect them. It was my job– said Olivia Wilde.

Contacted before publication of the article, representatives for Shia LaBeouf declined to comment. But in emails to Variety this Thursday, August 25, the comedian denies being fired, saying he “left the film due to lack of time to rehearse” on August 17, 2020.

SHIA LABEOUF answers

Shia LaBeouf has indeed provided Variety with two emails he says he sent to Olivia Wilde. He talks about the “journey of redemption and justice” he embarked on, writing “After 627 Days of Sobriety.”

He also adds that he contacted him a few months ago to make amends and ask for forgiveness for this failed collaboration, but now demands “the truth” after the director’s statements.

I am very happy with your words about my work; Thank you, good to read. However, I am a little confused about the news that I was fired. You and I know the reasons for my departure. I left your film because your actors and I could not find time for rehearsal.

He follows: “I know you are starting a press campaign for DWD, and the story of my dismissal is an attractive bait, because I am still not a person and may remain so for the rest of my life. But when I talk about my daughter, I often think about the press articles that she will read when she becomes literate. And though I owe and owe all my life, I am only bound by my actions.

If lies are repeated enough in public, they become truths. So that makes it all the more difficult for me to dig myself out of the hole that my behaviors have dug me so that I can provide for my family.

The layoff never happened, Olivia. And while I fully understand the appeal of encouraging this story in the current social landscape, the social currency it brings. This is not true. So I humbly ask you, as someone who cares about getting it right, to correct the narrative as best you can. I hope none of this affects you negatively and that your film succeeds in all the ways you want it to.

Supporting evidence

But the “business” does not end there. Chosen to star in the film – which was then offered to Harry Styles – Shia LaBeouf attached screenshots of messages he sent to Olivia Wilde in August 2020, telling her to withdraw Don’t Worry Darling because of the reason given.

According to the texts, LaBeouf and Wilde met privately in Los Angeles to discuss his departure from the film on August 16, 2020. Later that night, Wilde sent her the following text:

Thanks for sharing your thought process. I know it’s not fun. It’s not good to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty. I am honored that you were willing to go with me to tell the story with you. I hate it because it could have been something special. I want to make it clear how much it means to me that you trust me. This is the gift I will take with me.

LaBeouf claims he “officially” stepped down the following day, on August 17, 2020.

Although the actor was said to have been thanked for his very “methodical” preparation for the game (“method acting”), Variety clarifies that the text messages were sent before production knew what the actor’s immersive method entailed.

Tensions with Florence Pugh?

Also in his email, the actor includes a video that Olivia Wilde sent him on August 19, 2020, two days after his resignation.

In it, the director says he’s “not ready to give up yet” and also hints at the tension between Shia LaBeouf and Florence Pugh, who plays LaBeouf and Styles’ character’s wife, Jack.

I feel like I’m not ready to let it go yet and I’m heartbroken and want to understand– says Olivia in the video. “You know, I think it might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re willing to take it on with me. If he really commits, if he really puts his mind and heart into this stage, and if you can make peace – and I respect your view, I respect his view – but if you can do that, what do you think about that? is there hope can you tell me

In another message sent sometime between August 16 and August 20, Olivia Wilde also wrote to him: “You don’t have to be in my movies, but never doubt it. I promise, I swear? means something to me.

Olivia Wilde’s stunt publicity or truth, so it’s up to those most interested to follow.

Meanwhile, Don’t Worry Darling hits our big screens on September 21.
