Rapper Wiz Khalifa interrupted a concert in suburban Indianapolis as people began to flee the scene, leaving three with minor injuries in the aftermath of the riot, police said.
People began pouring out of the Ruoff Music Center at 10:30 pm on Friday after a disturbance on the amphitheater’s lawn, with some shouting about a possible shooting. Indianapolis star reports.
Police said in a Saturday morning press release that no weapons were found after a sweep of the area about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.
The disturbance occurred approximately 45 minutes after Wiz Khalifa’s concert, which was part of Vinyl Verse’s joint tour with rapper Logic. Indianapolis star. The music stopped and Wiz Khalifa and his band immediately left the stage.
Three people reported minor injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment after spectators “self-evacuated” inside the amphitheater, where all exits were opened in accordance with local emergency procedures, police said.
In the parking lot outside, some members of the audience made calls on their cell phones while others cried and hugged each other, the newspaper reported.
Live Nation, the concert promotion company that Ruoff owns and operates, released a statement Saturday thanking “officials and local authorities for acting quickly to support all attendees.”
Police did not immediately respond to a message asking for details about the nature of the disturbance.
