Twitter is rolling out an editing feature for Premium users

Constantly misspelled tweets may soon be a thing of the past.

Twitter said on Thursday that it is working to allow users to edit their tweets, in what it says is one of the most requested features to date.

The social media company said in a blog post that it is testing “tweet editing” internally and plans to roll it out later this month to subscribers to its premium service Twitter Blue.

The editing feature gives users 30 minutes to make changes, such as correcting typos or adding hashtags, after a tweet is first published.

To make it clear that a tweet has been modified, they will be labeled and displayed with an icon and timestamp. Users can view previous versions of a tweet by clicking on the tag.

Twitter said it is testing the editing feature with a small group of users to identify and fix potential issues.

“This includes how people can abuse this feature,” the company said in a blog post. “You can never be too careful.”

Time limits and version history play an important role, Twitter said. “They help protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly available record of what was said.”
