Meghan Markle and Prince Harry paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the chosen foundation’s website on Thursday following the news of her death. All site features are turned off and the homepage only consists of a black background that reads: “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 1926-2022″ written in white letters.
Queen Elizabeth II died Thursday at the royal family’s Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she spent the summer. He was 96 years old.
Prince Harry and Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family and moved to the United States in 2020, but attended the Queen’s platinum jubilee in June 2022. At the time of her departure from the royal family, the Queen then 93 years old, she said she was delighted that “together we found a constructive and supportive path for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be my favorite relatives.”
Shortly after announcing that they were stepping down, Harry motioned for them to leave, making it clear that he had “the utmost respect for Grandma, my Commander-in-Chief”, explaining that they would not “stray away” from their family.
News of Queen Elizabeth II’s death came just hours after Buckingham Palace announced she was under medical observation because her doctors were “concerned” about her health.
Their first child, Charles, will take his place. “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a time of great sadness for me and all my family members,” the new king said in a statement. “During this time of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted by the respect and deep love I had for the Queen.
