In winter, our body, like many animals, hibernates. Many processes slow down, so to replenish our energy and save ourselves from discouragement, we need to provide it with additional help. The easiest way is to adjust the usual menu.

Recently, nutritionist Elena Sviridova in an interview with one of the Russian publications just talked about the products that save us from the winter blues. The mandatory list includes fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids. They strengthen the immune system, the walls of blood vessels, the skeletal system, and also protect the respiratory organs from infections, which is especially important in the cold season.

“Omega-3s also suppress depression. You can choose any fish you like from the following list: salmon, salmon, chum salmon, mackerel. If you’ve had enough of the fish, but want to replenish the omega -3, you can try eating nuts, flaxseeds, beans and chia”– spoke about the merits of Sviridova fish.

The expert also advised to include in the winter diet vegetables growing underground – carrots, beets and potatoes. Their advantage lies in the high content of vitamin A and carbohydrates, which provide a lot of energy. But in order not to gain too much, it is worth eating them without fanaticism and in combination with fiber-rich vegetable salads.

The nutritionist also recalled the miraculous properties of mandarins, oranges and other citrus fruits. These fruits are considered winter fruits for a reason, as they are high in fiber and flavonoids. These act as antioxidants and improve the metabolic process.
