Dwayne Johnson breaks silence on Black Adam’s future: ‘I will not be part of the first chapter of the new DC Universe’

DC’s new cinematic universe James Gunn and Peter Safran is slowly taking shape and, after the announcement of the new movie by Superman nothing Henry Cavill and the news of the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson finally broke the silence by talking about the future of Black Adams in the DCU.

After 15 years of work, Dwayne Johnson finally managed to bring Black Adam to the big screen. The film was not as successful as Warners had hoped. making less than $400 million in the whole world. Johnson had promised in recent months that this film would forever shake up the DC universe, but he certainly wasn’t expecting this kind of revolution.

Below is the complete press release released by Dwayne Johnson on Twitter:

“My dear friends,
I wanted to give you the long awaited update on Black Adam regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe.

We talked with James Gun, Black Adam will not be part of the first chapter of the story. However, DC and Seven Bucks agreed to continue brainstorming together on the best ways to use Black Adam in future chapters of the DC multiverse. James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other’s success. Today makes no difference, I will always root for DC (and Marvel) and hope they are hugely successful.

You know me, I have a very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with words. The decisions made by James and DC management represent their vision of the DCU, through their creative lens.

After 15 years of hard and relentless work to finally make Black Adam happen, I am extremely proud of the film we created for fans around the world. I will always look back on the fan reaction to Black Adam with immense gratitude, humility and love. We did great.

To my very passionate fans of Black Adam and superheroes – I love you, thank you so much and I will always listen, I will do my best to entertain you. What a beautiful month – we need tequila right now! Have a great week and happy holidays to you and your families!”

The projects associated with Black Adam therefore do not coincide with what Gunn and Safran had in mind for the first chapter in the history of DC Studios. Although the character will last, Dwayne Johnson speaking in a very optimistic tone, also declaring that his production company, the Seven Bucks Productionswill continue to work with DC to explore new ways to use Black Adam in future DC films.

James Gunn immediately replied to the tweet of Dwayne Johnson declares: “I love The Rock and I’m excited to see what he and Seven Bucks do in the future. I look forward to working together soon.”
