At school, we often joke about her in history lessons. When describing the revolutionary situation, “the top can’t, the bottom won’t”, the straight students blush and the hooligans laugh. The school children are growing up, but the ironic attitude is going nowhere.

Quietly, under the covers and in a missionary position – something like this most often sounds like an exaggerated description of boring sex. No weeping willow against a waning moon, or at least the arch of love. Despite the fact that the missionary is no worse than the other poses, the basic version can also be improved as needed.

The position in which the woman is lying on her back with her legs apart and the man is on top of it only began to be called the combination “missionary position” or “missionary position” in the middle of the 20th century. . The pose itself is much older than its name. The image of amorous pleasures with this alignment is found on ancient ceramics or paintings made before our era.

As for the name, the most popular version of the name refers to the Christian missionaries who are said to have worked extensively on the moral character of the natives and instilled in them spiritual values ​​and sexual norms, which, among other things, ordered to have sex not like animals, in the “he’s behind” position, but more humanized, face to face.

According to another, close to this one, the natives would have learned the missionary posture themselves, by spying on the representatives of religious organizations. Both versions are not perfect, as the animals also practice similar postures, for example bonobos or gorillas.

In fairness, if we’re talking about physiology alone, the man-behind position is really best suited for utilitarian tasks and animal sexuality, which is largely necessary for procreation. The face-to-face pose is the humanization of the process, in which the emotional aspect, the reaction of the partner, the kisses and the looks are important.

Missionary owes its reputation as boring to the fact that it demands no activity from a woman – close your eyes and think of England or something equally chaste. But, of course, this is far from the only option, unless you are a former Slav.

Legs spread apart or thrown over the partner’s shoulders (for some reason this position is commonly referred to as the “officer’s position”) or a pillow placed under the buttocks help to heighten the sensations.
