The Last of Us: The Differences Between HBO Series and Original Game [LISTA]

The first scene of the series of The Last of Us does not exist in the game. It is set in 1968 on a fictional television show, in which the host and guests discuss pandemics caused by viruses. However, one scientist mentions something that could be much worse: fungi, like candidate, rye spur, Cordyceps and Aspergillus.

It’s worth remembering how these fungi exist in real life, but none can turn humans into zombies – and they act on just a few insects, like ants.

The beginning of the game takes place in September 2013 and the time jump jumps to 2033. However, the series begins in September 2003, with the jump to 2023, the same year in which the production is launched. During a round table with the participation of Rolling Stone Brazil, Craig Mazinone of those responsible for the adaptation, commented on this change.

“It was something we talked about from the beginning. If someone shows me a series and sees that it happens in 10 years, or 20, I get a little disconnected,” said the executive. “I really liked the idea of ​​saying, ‘When you watch the show, you’re seeing this world that’s happening right now parallel to ours.’

Then, in another unreleased scene, we see Joel throwing corpses into a big fire – until he has to carry the little boy to the fire. At that moment, we see how the character lost all humanity after seeing his daughter die and living 20 years at the end of the world.

Furthermore, Joel will collect their salary (paid in grocery cards) and ask what other jobs they have to do within the Quarantine Zone. Of course, he decides to take the one that pays the most, in which he would need to clean the sewer.

Joel and Tess Relationship

The games show Joel made friends with a woman named TessInterpreted by Anna Torv in adaptation, with whom he works as a smuggler outside the Quarantine Zone. In addition, the original work does not say whether the two are more than friends – and leave that to the player to decide.

However, unlike the game, the series shows Tess going to sleep cuddled up with Joel and hints at how they live in the same apartment. When they wake up, Joel see that Tess his face is full of bruises and he is willing to take revenge against the aggressors. Before that, we get to see, for the first time, how she got those bruises (and all because of robert).

In addition to assaulting Tess, robert stole a battery from the couple’s car (in the game they were weapons). So the two set off after him to get back what’s theirs (or get paid).

The public’s first contact with Ellie it happens a little earlier in the series. Because she is immune, she is in a kind of detention of the Fireflies, because they believe she can turn into a zombie. Although, Marlene (Merle Dandridge), leader of the group, has a funny dialogue with the girl – and that did not exist in the games.

Now that the way Ellie and Marlene intersects with Joel and Tess.
