At the quarterly conference, Disney has announced that it is developing sequels to three highly successful animated films. The titles in question are toy story 5, Frozen 3 And Zootopia 2.
In far positive times for Disney’s animation division, back from the flops of Lightyear And Strange worldthe company bet everything on three successful franchises such as Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
Bob IgerDisney CEO, so announced three new movies in three years: “Today I am pleased to announce that we are developing sequels to some of our most popular animated franchises: Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia. We’ll be sharing new information on these productions soon, but this is just one example of how we’re investing in our most popular brands and franchises.”
As said earlier, Disney and Pixar came from the flops of Lightyear And Strange world which last year earned 226 million dollars and 74 million dollars at the box office respectively, confirming the decline already recorded by the Oscar-winning film Enchanted which earned $256 million in 2021. The only movie of the past year that pleased Disney was red which, despite being released directly to streaming on Disney+, is the only Disney film nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2023 Oscars. Just to make a quick comparison, in 2016 Zootopia earned $1 billion, the same result as in 2019 for toy story 4While Frozen 2 – The Secret of Arendallewhich was House of Mouse’s last big hit before the COVID-19 pandemic, grossed $1.5 billion worldwide.
