Aitana Brings Plex On Stage For Madrid Tour Finale

Aitana brought her partner, Plex, onto the stage at Madrid's Movistar Arena during her fourth and final show in the Spanish capital on her 'Cuarto Azul' tour, having him take part in a staged stunt during the performance of her song "Superestrella".

In the moment, Plex let Aitana give him a light tap on the nose, then fell backward as though he had been shot by a sniper. The bit was captured on video and shared on Instagram, quickly becoming one of the talking points of the night.

"Superestrella" has been one of the biggest hits of the summer and has already broken several streaming records. The song took on a wider profile during the football World Cup, when it was used to soundtrack Spain's run through the tournament to the title, and it also featured at the celebration held for the national team, known as La Roja, in Madrid's Plaza de Cibeles.

Tour heads to Bilbao next

The Movistar Arena dates marked the close of Aitana's run of Madrid shows on the 'Cuarto Azul' tour. She will wrap up the Spanish leg of the tour this weekend with two nights in Bilbao before taking the show to Latin America.

The tour began on 9 May in Roquetas de Mar, in the province of Almeria, and has since passed through Murcia, Valencia, Albacete, Seville, Fuengirola, Aviles and Zaragoza, where a stop coincided with one of the Spanish national football team's matches in the United States under coach Luis de la Fuente. The tour also played Barcelona.

From Operacion Triunfo to a global stage

Aitana first became known to audiences almost a decade ago through the Spanish television talent show Operacion Triunfo. Since then she has built one of the biggest music careers in Spain, and this tour has been shaped in part around a push to grow her profile internationally.

That international ambition has already been reflected in changes to parts of her team ahead of this leg of the tour.

Next stops in Latin America and the United States

Aitana will perform for her Colombian audience in Bogota on 18 October. Dates in Chile, Argentina and Mexico will follow, serving as a lead-in to what is described as her biggest challenge: breaking through in the United States.

Two US dates are set for the end of November, the first in Brooklyn, New York, and the second in Miami. Although both cities have large Spanish-speaking communities, the aim of those shows is also to win over English-speaking audiences who have so far stuck to music in their own language.

That effort centres not only on "Superestrella", which has already made its mark on streaming platforms, but on the wider sound she has built across songs including "6 de febrero", "Conexion Psiquica", "Segundo intento" and "Musica en el cielo".
