British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has released the first trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, confirming a worldwide cinema release on October 23, 2026.
The secretly filmed project marks the return of the satirical suburban rapper character after more than 20 years, updating the comedy figure from his 2002 feature debut to reveal he has now converted into a Rastafarian.
In the new film, Ali G finds himself confronting a situation that completely alters his priorities after spending two decades chilling. He unexpectedly discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Julie, is eight months pregnant, having failed to notice her condition until then.
Julie, played by British comedian and impressionist Morgana Robinson, accompanies Ali G during part of his new adventure as he decides to cross the Atlantic Ocean to regain his past glory. During his journey across the United States, he faces various adversaries who ultimately threaten both his own future and that of his unborn child.
Production and directorial debut
The project represents the feature film directorial debut for Baron Cohen. The actor, screenwriter, and producer is making the film under his production company, Four by Two Films, while filmmakers Petr Jákl and Emily Kob serve as executive producers.
Baron Cohen is an award-winning British actor and satirist who first rose to prominence with the Ali G character on television in the late 1990s. The character, a satirical white suburban youth who adopts Jamaican sound-system culture and hip-hop tropes, gained global recognition through television broadcasts and the 2002 feature film Ali G Indahouse.
Robinson, who plays Julie, is a prominent UK television comedian best known for her sketch series The Morgana Show and appearances across major British comedy broadcasts.
Sequel history and comedy legacy
The movie is only the second feature-length sequel Sacha Baron Cohen has produced across his career. His previous continuation came in 2020 with Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which was shot covertly and released without prior promotion during the United States presidential election year.
While the Borat follow-up arrived without warning, followers of the Ali G character had sought a second feature film since the original 2002 release. Audiences will see the updated character when Ali G: Who Iz I? opens in cinemas worldwide on October 23, 2026.
