Streaming service Disney+ has officially renewed British comedy series Alice and Steve for a second season following its breakout success.
The renewal comes after the show emerged as the top winner at the CANNESERIES 2026 festival, where it secured three awards including Best Series.
Alongside the headline prize for Best Series, the show won the Special Performance Award for its entire cast, as well as the Lycéens Award. Released earlier this year, the British comedy has become a major sleeper hit for Disney+, where it streams exclusively.
Season Two Cast and Production Details
Series creator and writer Sophie Goodhart will return to handle the scripts for the second season. The upcoming episodes will also feature returning cast members Nicola Walker, Jemaine Clement, Yali Topol Margalith, and Joel Fry. Disney+ has not yet announced a release date for the new season.
Walker is known for starring roles in British television series including Unforgotten and The Split, while Clement is best known as a co-creator of What We Do in the Shadows and half of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. Fry previously appeared in Our Flag Means Death, while Topol Margalith starred in The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Goodhart previously wrote and directed the feature film My Blind Brother.
Season One Storyline and Finale Cliffhanger
The first season of Alice and Steve consists of six 30-minute episodes. The story centers on Alice, a woman whose life is upended when her best friend, Steve, begins a romantic relationship with her 26-year-old daughter, Izzy. While Steve views the relationship as a genuine romance worth pursuing, Alice sees it as the sudden loss of the two most important people in her life.
Refusing to accept the couple, Alice attempts everything in her power to end the relationship, ranging from threats and pleas to sabotaging Steve's professional career. Steve refuses to be intimidated, transforming an indestructible friendship into an all-out war between two people who know each other too well.
The renewal follows a tense season finale that ended on a cliffhanger, leaving the future of the main characters unresolved. Disney+ has not revealed what will happen in the new season, though Goodhart promised that no one would be prepared for what happens next, especially Alice and Steve.
