Amanda Bynes displayed her ongoing weight loss in a flattering outfit as she stepped out in Los Angeles this week.
The 40-year-old actress looked trimmer than ever during the outing with her event planner boyfriend Zachary Khan. Bynes showcased her svelte legs in a silver miniskirt with white trim, paired with a loose-fitting white t-shirt featuring the words 'NEW YORK CITY' splashed across the front.
She wore her platinum blonde hair swept back and accessorised with pale purple sneakers and a white handbag. Bynes has largely kept her latest relationship out of the public eye, though she posted a loving tribute to Khan on Valentine's Day. She took to Instagram to share a video of the pair driving around at night, adding the caption: 'love u zachary.'
The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Bynes for comment.
Ozempic weight loss
The Los Angeles sighting comes after Bynes revealed in December that she had shed 28lbs with the help of the weight loss drug Ozempic. She has continued to lose weight in the intervening months.
She proudly informed her social media followers last December that she previously weighed 180lbs but had 'lost 28lbs on ozempic!' Bynes posted an image of herself and said she was 'down to 152lbs,' adding: 'I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!'
She announced last June that she was 'going on Ozempic,' joining the craze of weight loss injectables sweeping the entertainment industry. At the time, Bynes declared herself 'so excited' and explained she hoped 'to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures.'
By November, she told followers: 'I've lost 20 pounds so far. I'm so excited about that, to be honest. Also, I want to lose about 50 more pounds.'
Speaking to fans through her Instagram Stories, she clarified that she was '163 now,' noting that she 'actually shot up on the Ozempic pill, shot up to 180 from 173. So I was able to lose twenty pounds from 180 and now I'm down to 163 on the Ozempic injection.'
The Sydney White actress stated the injections were 'working' and that she was 'trying to lose more weight just to feel skinny and cute.'
She explained earlier in 2024 that depression had caused her to gain 20lbs, divulging that her ultimate goal is to return to her teenage weight of 110lbs.
Reaction to Hayden Panettiere
Bynes recently went viral for her public reaction to the death of fellow former child star Hayden Panettiere at the age of 36.
Panettiere, who had been promoting her memoir earlier this year, was found dead of a suspected overdose on August 16 at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina. She had travelled there with her on-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson, who is a native of the state. Hickerson had a turbulent romance with Panettiere and previously went to jail for abusing her.
He was at the scene with his brother Zachary when she was pronounced dead, according to a heavily redacted police report. An autopsy found 'no signs of trauma' that 'would have contributed to the death.'
Bynes responded to the news by posting old headlines about a 2013 interview in which Panettiere claimed she had been able to avoid the flameouts suffered by contemporaries such as Bynes or Lindsay Lohan.
'Life can hit you hard, and fast. What a horrible situation,' Bynes wrote. When a commenter admonished her to 'please be kind,' she doubled down, replying: 'I was simply stating... glass houses.'
Conservatorship and cosmetic changes
Bynes' own public meltdown unfolded in the headlines from 2012 through 2014 as she struggled with bipolar disorder and abused substances. She had repeated brushes with the law, including two arrests for driving under the influence and two for hit-and-runs.
In 2013, her parents Lynn and Rick obtained a conservatorship over her. They held it until 2022, when she was released with their approval.
She was later placed in a 5150 psychiatric hold in 2023 after 'roaming the streets naked and alone,' beckoning a passing car and dialling 911, according to TMZ. Her parents did not seek to reestablish the conservatorship, having taken note that she realised she was unwell and sought treatment herself.
Alongside her weight loss, Bynes has made several recent changes to her appearance. The She's the Man star had lip fillers installed last August. In 2023, she confirmed she had excess skin surgically taken off her eyelids.
She referred to the eyelid surgery, known as a blepharoplasty, as 'one of the best things I could have ever done for my self-confidence.'
Last May, she had a tattoo of the Roman numeral X applied to one of her fingers to honour a 10-year 'best friend anniversary' with her close pal Dylan, who got matching ink.
In April, the actress swapped her previously platinum locks for raven hair, although she has since decided to go back to blonde. She performed a similar reversal on her eyebrows, which had been dyed various dark colours for years. She turned them a natural shade of light brown last month, only to change her mind and make them black again.
This June, she announced on Instagram that she plans to have a set of gold bottom teeth installed as a replacement for her veneers.
