Brazilian singer Anitta broke down in tears on social media after tickets for her Rio de Janeiro concert sold out within 10 hours of opening.
The 33-year-old pop artist will perform on January 24, 2027, at the Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca, in the southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro. The performance is part of her nationwide pre-Carnival tour, Ensaios da Anitta, which visits cities across Brazil during January.
Speaking with a choked voice in an emotional broadcast on her social accounts, Anitta told fans that she was overwhelmed with gratitude. She reminded her audience of the sheer size of the Olympic Park and stressed that selling out such a massive venue within 10 hours was a rare achievement in Brazil.
The singer noted that ticket sales began at noon, with an estimated 80,000 fans immediately entering the online queue to secure passes. She admitted that she initially hesitated to believe the numbers, wondering whether prospective buyers were simply loading the site on multiple computers, before the entire allocation sold out.
Ticket demand and fan queue
Earlier in the day, as queues formed prior to the rush, Anitta had shared her excitement with followers across her platforms. She said she was driven crazy by the sight of 80,000 people waiting in line, encouraging everyone not to lose hope because they would manage to purchase tickets and enjoy an unforgettable show.
Anitta, who rose to prominence from Rio de Janeiro, has become one of Latin America's leading pop stars with global chart hits blending funk carioca and contemporary pop. Her chosen venue, the Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca, was constructed for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and regularly accommodates mega-concerts and multi-day music festivals.
Carnival is the cornerstone of Brazil's cultural calendar, filling city streets each year with vibrant costumed parades and street parties known as blocos. The Ensaios da Anitta concert series serves as the pop star's annual run of warm-up shows, allowing fans to celebrate the spirit of Carnival during the weeks before the official festivities commence.
Tour schedule and national celebrations
The 2027 tour will visit eight Brazilian states throughout January. The dates have been arranged earlier than in previous years because Carnival arrives early on the calendar in 2027, with official celebrations scheduled to begin on February 6.
For the upcoming edition, Anitta will focus on the theme Festas do Brasil, showcasing traditional celebrations from different regions of the country. The performances will highlight cultural staples such as frevo, the fast brass music and dance of Pernambuco, the massive trio elétrico sound trucks of northeastern street parties, and the theatrical folk drama of boi-bumbá.
The concert run begins in the north of the country before travelling through central and southern states. The complete schedule includes:
- January 9: Belém, Pará
- January 10: Recife, Pernambuco
- January 16: Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais
- January 17: Brasília, Federal District
- January 23: Campinas, São Paulo
- January 24: Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro
