Greek singer Antonis Remos has paid tribute to fellow performer Giorgos Mazonakis following his sudden death at age 54, while confirming that his own 30th anniversary concert in Thessaloniki will take place as scheduled.
Mazonakis died on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, prompting widespread mourning across the Greek music industry and among the thousands of fans who followed his career.
In a message shared in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 10, Remos expressed deep sadness over the loss. Remos wrote that regardless of the storms Mazonakis had lived through inside himself, what he left behind was the peace of his pure soul, adding that his colleague would never be forgotten.
At the same time, organizers announced that Remos's upcoming anniversary concert celebrating 30 years of his artistic career will not be postponed. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. along the Thessaloniki Waterfront, with free admission for the public.
An official statement from the event production company, which Remos republished on his personal Instagram account, noted that together with all of Greece, they were bidding farewell to and honoring Mazonakis. The company added that music unites people and provides strength during the most difficult moments, confirming that the anniversary show would proceed as planned.

Remos and Mazonakis stood as two of the most recognizable names in modern Greek laiko music, with both artists beginning their professional paths during the 1990s.
