Newly revealed police bodycam footage shows American model Ashlyn Castro describing an assault by her mother in a Nevada hotel car park. The 28-year-old social media influencer, who is dating England midfielder Jude Bellingham, was interviewed by police officers in Henderson, near Las Vegas, in July 2024.
At the time of the incident, her mother, 59-year-old Tina Castro, was living on the streets. Ashlyn told police she had planned to drive her mother back to California to figure something out for her, but realized while sitting in the parked vehicle that she had booked the wrong hotel.
Ashlyn explained that her mother was off her medication and suddenly lashed out inside the car. "She pulled my hair down and started punching my face," Ashlyn told the responding officer while struggling to catch her breath.
The bodycam footage obtained by The Mail on Sunday captured Ashlyn weeping as she described the attack. At the opposite end of the car park, two other officers questioned Tina Castro, who appeared gaunt and confused.
Tina sobbed as she gave a conflicting account to police, claiming that her daughter had attacked her. "She hates me for some reason, I never did anything to her," Tina told the officers.
Police arrested Tina after reviewing a video recorded by Ashlyn and noting bloody scratches on Ashlyn's hands and a swollen lip. When officers asked Tina to turn around to be handcuffed, she protested, "A busted lip? I never touched her lip!"
In a written statement provided to police, Ashlyn stated, "I was trying to get my mother a hotel room when she started attacking me, pulling my hair, punching me, scratching me. She didn’t think I was getting her the room so she attacked me." Tina was subsequently fined $200, equivalent to £150, for domestic battery and is currently wanted for contempt of court after failing to pay the fine.
Relationship with Footballer Jude Bellingham
A few months after the Nevada incident, Ashlyn met Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham. Last year, she described the footballer as "the most thoughtful, kind-hearted, hard-working, incredible human I have ever known," while he refers to her as "my love."
The model became a regular presence during the World Cup, cheering on Bellingham from the stadium stands. Following England matches, Bellingham ran into the crowd to embrace Ashlyn, who sat alongside his mother Denise.
The couple later shared photographs from a romantic holiday in Hawaii and were spotted last week at Alton Towers. They were also photographed on the Star Wars ride at Disneyland in California, located just miles from Ashlyn's childhood home.
The relationship became public after the pair began commenting on each other's Instagram posts in late 2024, with reports indicating they met on the celebrity dating app Raya. They were photographed having lunch in Madrid in January 2025 and were later seen kissing on a £1 million superyacht in Sardinia last September.
Ashlyn maintains a home in Los Angeles but spends most of her time at Bellingham's £5.5 million mansion in the La Finca neighborhood of Madrid. Bellingham was raised by his mother Denise, nicknamed "The Queen," and his father Mark, a retired police officer, alongside his 20-year-old brother Jobe, who is also a professional footballer.
Family Rift and Background in Anaheim
Despite her high-profile relationship, Ashlyn's romance with Bellingham escalated tension with her mother. Tina criticized her daughter on TikTok, writing, "Who is this Jude Bellingham? You disobeyed your mum, lied about her, left her in shelters."
Ashlyn responded to followers by revealing her mother suffers from schizophrenia. Tina is believed to be living in a homeless shelter in Los Angeles, with social media photos showing her near a tent in MacArthur Park carrying a small black dog named Speedy and wearing a crucifix.
Family conflicts trace back to Ashlyn's childhood. Tina was a victim of domestic violence during an eight-year marriage to Ashlyn's father, Michael Castro. In 2000, Tina fled the relationship with three-year-old Ashlyn and her five-year-old brother Trever.
The family moved in with Tina's mother, Lynn, now 80, at her single-storey house in Anaheim, California. Tina filed for a restraining order against Michael, alleging he suffered from bipolar disorder and engaged in physical and verbal abuse.
In her court filing, Tina wrote that Michael smashed her car windows and sat in a running car in the garage while drinking and taking pills. She added that he called daily with suicide threats and showed up screaming at her parents' house in front of the children.
Brother Trever Castro Details Family History
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Ashlyn's 30-year-old brother, Trever Castro, described their upbringing as traumatic. He explained that both parents had mental health issues, with their mother suffering from schizophrenia and their father battling depression.
Trever, a father of four who still lives in the 1955 three-bedroom childhood home in Anaheim, said their father rebuilt his life after their divorce and ran successful businesses until his death from Covid in 2021. However, his mother's state declined after a legal conservatorship managed by their uncle, a police captain, ended.
When the conservatorship ended and Tina stopped taking her medication, her living situation unraveled. "Unless somebody is a danger to themselves or others it is virtually impossible to force them into treatment. We’re kind of at a standstill," Trever said, adding that the divorce and family issues affected every part of their lives.
Career and Social Media Response
Ashlyn has developed a business career in modeling and talent management. She founded the talent agency The Four Models, appeared in the 2021 music video for DJ Khaled's track Popstar, and holds commercial deals with beauty brands including Clarins.
Prior to her relationship with Bellingham, Ashlyn was linked to basketball players Terance Mann and LaMelo Ball, as well as Sinners actor Michael B. Jordan. Addressing criticism and allegations of being a "gold digger," Ashlyn posted a video on social media explaining her past relationships.
"It makes me super uncomfortable talking on camera about my personal life," Ashlyn said in the video, noting she had only three boyfriends over eight years and faced online harassment since her first public relationship in 2017. Speaking on her mother's illness, she added, "This is extremely personal. This is my real life. I lost my father a few years ago. My mum is mentally ill."
Ashlyn announced plans to launch a charity to assist people dealing with mental health issues and support their families, describing her experience as "the most defeated feeling in the world."
