Barbara Hershey, 78, was spotted running errands near her home in Hollywood, California, over the weekend, making a trip to her local Gelson's grocery store.
The veteran actress, whose career spans five decades, kept cool and comfortable in a white maxi dress featuring a speckled burgundy pattern. She paired the look with strappy beige sandals and wore her grey bob haircut grazing her collarbone. At one point, Hershey was seen wearing frameless eyeglasses with a pink-colored bridge and arms.
Later in the day, the actress emerged in a breezy black dress to collect her mail outside her gated residence.
Decades of Hollywood Roles
Hershey's career began in the late 1960s, when she appeared on the ABC series The Monroes. She made her film debut in 1968's With Six You Get Eggroll, co-starring alongside Doris Day.
In 1986 she starred opposite Mia Farrow in the Woody Allen romantic comedy Hannah and Her Sisters. In 2010 she took on the role of Natalie Portman's overbearing mother in Black Swan, a part that introduced her to a new generation of moviegoers.
Family and Career Milestones
Following her early screen work, Hershey played the titular role in Martin Scorsese's 1972 film Boxcar Bertha. That same year, she gave birth to her only child, son Tom Carradine, whom she shared with co-star and former partner David Carradine.
Another of Hershey's notable roles came in Scorsese's 1988 drama The Last Temptation of Christ, in which she portrayed Mary Magdalene.
Beaches Reunion with Bette Midler
Earlier this year, Hershey reunited with Bette Midler, her co-star from the 1988 film Beaches. The two actresses won numerous accolades for their performances as lifelong friends C.C. Bloom and Hillary Whitney in director Garry Marshall's tearjerker.
In February, the pair reconnected, and Midler shared a selfie of the reunion on Instagram. She captioned the post: "It's a BEACHES reunion! Here I am with the great Barbara Hershey! We go back a-ways!!!"
Hershey married artist Stephen Douglas in 1992, but the union lasted just over a year.
