The Beatles have announced an expanded reissue of Rubber Soul, due on October 2, 2026. The package will include a new stereo mix, archival studio recordings, home demos, and a previously unpublished song sketch by John Lennon, according to the band's official website.
Producer Giles Martin and sound engineer Sam Okell created the new mix from the original four-track master tapes, using technology that separates vocals and instruments recorded together onto a single track.
The collection will also feature a Dolby Atmos surround sound version and the original mono mix, in which all vocals and instruments are blended into one track. It will include the American Capitol Records edition of Rubber Soul, which differed from the British release in the number and order of songs. The 1965 double single Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out, on which both tracks were issued as co-equal lead sides, is also part of the set.
Super Deluxe editions
The Super Deluxe versions contain the most archival material: 24 early studio recordings, including 20 previously unreleased performances made during the sessions, and three unreleased home demos. Among them are early versions of Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out, as well as Little Girl, a Lennon song sketch that has never been released.
The first track from the reissue to be made available is Michelle (Take 1), an early studio take that is already streaming.
Super Deluxe editions will also come with an 88-page hardcover book containing a new introduction by Paul McCartney, a preface drawing on Lennon's own remarks about the album, rare photographs, an account of the album's creation, and notes on individual songs.
