Spanish television personality Belén Esteban has revealed that she secretly met and reconciled with her former colleague Carmen Borrego weeks before Borrego launched a fierce public attack against her on Telecinco.
The secret meeting undermines a televised confrontation broadcast last Friday, in which Borrego claimed she could never forgive Esteban for past comments regarding her son, José María Almoguera, and threatened legal action.
Esteban has returned to the Mediaset España network Telecinco, where she faces widespread hostility across multiple studio sets and from several prominent television family clans.

Clashing television family clans
Tensions surrounding Esteban extend beyond her dispute with Borrego to include the Ambiciones clan, which supports retired bullfighter Jesulín de Ubrique and his wife María José Campanario.
Julia Janeiro, the daughter of Jesulín de Ubrique and Campanario, recently entered the media spotlight and warned Esteban of an impending lawsuit. Meanwhile, Jesulín de Ubrique claimed to hold evidence that Esteban lied about their daughter, Andrea Janeiro, amid reports explaining why half-sisters Julia and Andrea no longer speak.
Esteban also faces open criticism from the Mohedano clan. Television personality Rosa Benito publicly described Esteban as a bad person, stating that merely pronouncing her name caused her nausea and repugnance, a position supported by Benito's daughter and ex-husband.
A third ongoing conflict involves the Campos family, specifically sisters Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego, who are daughters of late Spanish broadcasting icon María Teresa Campos. The rift stems from comments Esteban previously made regarding Borrego's son, José María Almoguera.
Televised accusations and legal threats
During a television appearance last Friday, Borrego expressed deep anger on air, declaring that Esteban had made a very serious statement about her son that she could not forgive without an explanation.
Borrego publicly denounced the emotional pain the comments caused her, her son, and their loved ones, raising the possibility of suing her former colleague. She concluded her statement by asserting that if Esteban would kill for her daughter, she would kill for her son.
However, information leaked following the broadcast revealed that Esteban and Borrego had secretly met two weeks earlier to discuss the situation and had successfully settled their dispute in person without escalation.

Secret meeting and conflicting accounts
Esteban expressed surprise at the sudden public display of anger over a matter that had already been resolved privately. Speaking to reporters, Esteban stated that she spoke with Borrego yesterday and suggested Borrego clarify her actions on her own program, adding that she was removing herself from the public drama.
Esteban questioned the logic of Borrego's public grievance, revealing that the pair had met two or three weeks ago and had spent time together on several occasions. She noted her confusion over why Borrego omitted those recent meetings when claiming on air to be deeply aggrieved.
Borrego subsequently addressed the situation during an appearance on the Telecinco program La tarde se mueve. When Borrego claimed on set that she had no fear of Esteban, fellow panelists responded with laughter and mocked her by making chicken clucking noises.
Borrego maintained that Esteban's past remarks had caused her significant pain, but stepped back from her earlier hostility by claiming she held zero grudges. She stated that she called Esteban yesterday after learning that Esteban was hurt by her televised comments, explaining that their prior face-to-face meetings were not the appropriate time to confront her.
