American singer Beyonce made a surprise appearance at a Space NK store in London on Monday to celebrate the UK launch of her haircare brand Cécred.

The hitmaker posed in a glamorous white corset dress for attendees at the capital location before changing into a second, more ethereal white dress. The UK rollout marks the first time the haircare line has been made available internationally outside the United States, expanding the business she co-owns with her mother, Tina Knowles.

British shoppers looking to recreate the star's hairstyles will face premium price points across the product range. The brand's Restoring Hair and Edge Drops are priced at £53, while the Oud Hair Perfume sells for £51. Cécred also offers a nourishing hair oil priced between £21 and £42.

Speaking about the international expansion, Grace Ray, chief executive officer at Cécred, highlighted the strategic importance of the British market for the company.

"Expanding into the UK, our second-largest market following the US, is a powerful testament to the connection we have built with the community and the growing opportunity for high-performance, transformative hair care here," Ray said.

"Partnering with Space NK, a retailer that shares our vision for innovation and shifting the narrative in hair care, allows us to bring Cécred to new and existing customers in a best-in-class retail environment, marking a milestone moment as we take this next step in our global growth," she added.

Tina Knowles, a former salon owner and experienced hairstylist who later became a fashion designer, emphasized the brand's focus on diverse hair types during the international rollout.

"Throughout my career as a stylist, salon owner, and traveling on global tours, I have seen first-hand how important it is to have products that are tested and deliver results for all hair types and textures, no matter where you are in the world," Knowles said.

"Inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of our brand and we are so happy to bring this approach to the UK with Space NK, introducing even more people to the rituals and innovations that make Cécred so exceptional," she said.

Behind-the-scenes photographs from the London launch were subsequently published on Cécred's official Instagram account, documenting Beyonce undergoing a transformation and showing off her glossy curled hair.

Following the London launch event, 72-year-old Knowles appeared as a guest on Tuesday's episode of the British television show This Morning to promote her memoir, titled Matriarch.

Concert safety scare during Houston performance

Speaking to This Morning hosts Cat Deeley, 49, and Ben Shephard, 51, Knowles reflected on her family, her personal health journey, and a frightening incident during one of her daughter's stadium concerts.

Knowles recalled a show in Houston in June last year, where Beyonce was flying above the crowd inside a car prop while performing her song 16 Carriages when the vehicle tilted dangerously in mid-air.

"It was terrible," Knowles told the presenters. "I was on a platform, so I had to fight my way through the crowd because I knew what was going on but other people didn't."

Despite the dangerous mechanical malfunction during the rain-soaked performance, Knowles explained how her daughter managed to avoid falling from the suspended vehicle.

"But her being a professional, she kept singing and the car was turning and she was literally holding herself in it - because she would have fallen out," Knowles said. "Every time she flies at her shows, I am like, 'Are you crazy? And it's raining...' and she's flying in a horseshoe and it's pouring down with rain."

Knowles described pushing through the crowd to reach her daughter once the stage crew managed to lower the vehicle back to the ground.

"That night, I fought my way to her and by the time I had got there, they had gotten her down, but she was holding herself in - she's an athlete, she's very strong," Knowles said. "She had to hold herself in to keep from falling out. It was so dangerous. She drives me crazy. Stop flying."

When Knowles reached her daughter to check if she was unhurt, she embraced her tightly, prompting Beyonce to say, "Momma, I gotta show to do," before pushing her mother off to resume the concert.

"I was so happy that turned out that way, it could have been bad," Knowles concluded.

Breast cancer diagnosis and family background

During her television interview, Knowles also opened up about her battle with stage one breast cancer, which was diagnosed in July 2024 after she missed a routine screening due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As women, we nurture everyone else and take care of them and I missed my mammogram because of Covid. I thought I had it," Knowles revealed. "If I had gone earlier, I would have had stage zero. And if I had gone later, I would have had stage four. It's the gift of God that I finally went and had the time."

She explained that sharing her diagnosis in her memoir was intended to encourage other women to prioritize their health and schedule regular medical checks.

"I put that in the book because I want people to understand, especially women, that they need to go get their scans, they need to go and take care of themselves and make themselves a priority," Knowles said. "Not making yourselves a priority, your kids can lose you, you're not even around for them, so it's really important."

Knowles is a grandmother to four grandchildren. Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z have three children: 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, and nine-year-old twins Sir and Rumi. Knowles's other daughter, singer Solange Knowles, has a 21-year-old son named Daniel.

Space NK is a major British luxury beauty retailer founded in London, known for offering high-end cosmetics, skincare, and hair products. Beyonce rose to fame as the lead singer of Destiny's Child before establishing a solo career that has earned her 32 Grammy Awards.
