Beyonce turned 45 on Friday, and her mother marked the occasion with an emotional post on social media.
On her personal Instagram account, Tina Knowles shared a photograph taken in the maternity ward showing her holding the newborn Beyonce. Knowles recalled the first time she saw her daughter, describing it as one of the happiest moments of her life. She also said she was proud of the character her daughter has developed, saying that despite difficulties and "noise," Beyonce keeps creating, supporting others and moving forward.

Knowles said she often thinks back to that day 45 years ago. She said it took nine hours for Beyonce to be born, and that in the photograph she looked exhausted but was, at that point in her life, happier than she had ever been, on September 4, 1981. She described it as the moment they looked into each other's eyes for the first time, calling the bond between them powerful, beautiful and strong, and saying it had never broken and never would.
Expressing pride in her daughter, Knowles added that of all the beautiful qualities Beyonce has, the one she loves most is her enormous heart, and that this is what makes her proudest. She said that above all, Beyonce is an exceptional person, and that despite the sometimes overwhelming noise around her, she keeps moving forward, creating, loving, constantly supporting others, making history and using her gifted mind, working tirelessly and focused on her own work.
