Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz had their PR representative use unusual tactics to distract paparazzi outside a Paris restaurant on Saturday evening.
The aspiring chef, 27, and the American actress, 31, were leaving L'Avenue, an upscale restaurant on Avenue Montaigne in the French capital popular with fashion week attendees, following a dinner celebrating the birthday of Peltz's brother, Brad Peltz. Their outing came just one day after Beckham's mother, fashion designer Victoria Beckham, presented her latest collection at Paris Fashion Week without the couple in attendance.
Footage obtained by the Daily Mail captured the publicist, who was dressed head to toe in black, sticking out her tongue and dancing from side to side as she engaged with photographers waiting outside the venue.
When asked by a photographer if she was not tired anymore, the publicist replied with a brief "No" before pretending to run away from the gathered media crowd.
"Everyone is just trying to make a dollar," the representative added during the exchange outside the restaurant. "I make nothing. I just hang out."
Shielding the Couple Outside L'Avenue
As Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz made their way toward a waiting car, the publicist stepped up her efforts to obstruct the cameras by waving her jacket directly in front of the lenses.
The movement prompted one photographer to shout back at her, saying, "Come on, don't do that, madam."
The publicist was seemingly attempting to protect Peltz, who was observed covering her face while heading to the vehicle.
Peltz is understood to work with the celebrity photo agency Backgrid, a major international picture business that supplies entertainment media with celebrity photography. That existing relationship may explain the publicist's efforts to prevent competing photographers from capturing images of the actress.
Video of the encounter quickly circulated online, drawing mixed reactions on social media. One Instagram user commented, "Please, what a scene, get over yourselves," while another commenter noted, "They didn't even let her in the car."
Brooklyn Beckham is the eldest son of former England football captain David Beckham and Spice Girls singer turned fashion mogul Victoria Beckham. Peltz, known for her roles in television drama Bates Motel and the Transformers film franchise, married Brooklyn in April 2022. She is the daughter of American billionaire investor Nelson Peltz.
Fashion Week Distances and Family Tension
The incident followed several days during which Brooklyn and Peltz appeared to avoid encountering Beckham's family, who were also present in Paris for fashion week events.
On Friday, Victoria Beckham, 52, presented her brand's latest collection at the Conciergerie, a historic former royal palace and monument located at 2 Boulevard du Palais on the Île de la Cité along the Seine. Her husband David Beckham, 51, sat in the front row alongside their children Romeo, 24, Cruz, and Harper to support the fashion show. Brooklyn and Peltz were noticeably absent from the event.
Following the show, David and Victoria posed for family photos with Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. Victoria later shared a post on Instagram expressing gratitude for the family members who attended, writing: "To my friends and family, I feel so blessed to have you all by my side xxx."
David Beckham also posted praise for his wife's presentation on social media, writing: "We are so proud of you, yet again you show your elegance, passion & beauty in how you want people to feel in your clothes. We feel so lucky to be part of your beautiful night in a place that we love so much. Well done we couldn't be prouder ❤️ @victoriabeckham."
Hours before Victoria's runway show began, David had liked an Instagram video showing Brooklyn and Peltz attending the MESSIKA jewelry presentation in Paris, though the gesture did not lead to a family reunion.
Parallel Nights in the French Capital
Throughout their stay in Paris, Brooklyn and Peltz attended multiple high-profile gatherings across the city. Just 24 hours prior to the dinner at L'Avenue, the couple had been partying at the Grand Palais, the historic exhibition complex on the Champs-Élysées located a little over a mile from where the rest of the Beckham family was staying.
While Victoria Beckham is understood to have arrived in Paris on Friday, Brooklyn's younger brother Romeo Beckham was seen partying at the luxury Plaza Athénée hotel on Avenue Montaigne alongside Spanish tennis champion Carlos Alcaraz, less than a mile away from his brother's venue.
Despite their close physical proximity across central Paris, the brothers did not encounter each other during the evening.
A source told the Daily Mail that family relations remain deeply strained: "No good will come from them bumping into one another; relations are still devastatingly strained. Victoria's Paris Fashion weeks are very special to her, she loves celebrating her work and she loves having her family there, it means so much. Of course Brooklyn is missed, he is always missed from big Beckham get togethers, he used to love them but he has chosen this to be the way it is."
