Can Yaman Sandokan series gets Netflix second season

Can Yaman will return as the famous pirate Sandokan in a second season of the historical television drama, with Netflix taking over production for new episodes planned for 2027.

The streaming platform has joined the project as a new partner, a move designed to expand the international reach of the action series.

Netflix previously acquired the rights to broadcast the first season in several countries, and will now produce the second instalment to help the show reach a wider global audience.

The original series was produced by the Italian television companies Lux Vide and Rai Fiction.

The show premiered first in Italy and is currently broadcasting in Spain on the Telecinco television network.

The first season features eight episodes based on the classic adventure novels created by the Italian author Emilio Salgari.

Yaman plays the legendary pirate Sandokan, starring alongside the British actors Alanah Bloor and Ed Westwick.

Expanded television universe

The second season is scheduled to arrive in 2027, although an exact release date has not yet been set.

Producers expect to retain most of the main cast members and plan to expand the fictional universe of the story.

Yaman's return to the lead role is viewed as a major attraction for the new production, which aims to build on its international success.

The Turkish actor was born in the Suadiye neighbourhood of Istanbul on November 8, 1989.

He has become a television phenomenon in Spain and one of the most recognised Turkish actors worldwide.

The only child of a lawyer and a teacher, Yaman has Albanian, Kosovar and Macedonian heritage.

He attended the prestigious Italian Lyceum of Istanbul before earning a law degree at Yeditepe University on a sports scholarship, later changing his career path to become an actor.

Yaman made his television debut in 2014 and achieved widespread fame with the Turkish romantic comedy series Erkenci Kus.

The role earned him a Golden Butterfly Award for best actor in a romantic comedy.

His popularity grew further with starring roles in the television series Dolunay and Bay Yanlis.

The actor speaks five languages, including Spanish, and his shows have found significant success on the Spanish television channels Divinity and Nova, making him a familiar face to Spanish audiences.

Prime Video comedy

Yaman has also signed on for another new project, joining the cast of the original comedy series Bro for Amazon Prime Video.

The new streaming show will follow two feuding brothers and represents a significant change in direction for the actor.

Bro is a joint production between Amazon Prime Video and Lux Vide, the same Italian company behind Sandokan.

The eight episode series is directed by Riccardo Donna and Tobia Campana and will launch exclusively on the Prime Video platform worldwide, though no official release date has been announced.

The story centres on Riccardo and Nicola Ridolfi, two half brothers and lawyers with completely contrasting personalities who are forced to work together to save their family law firm.

Riccardo is a brilliant professional going through a deep romantic crisis, while Nicola is spontaneous, charismatic and finds it easy to connect with people.

The two characters must resolve their differences, deal with family conflicts and discover the true meaning of trust and brotherhood as they work alongside each other.

An international Can Yaman news channel on the social media platform X said the show will combine humour, emotion, romance and unexpected situations.

The account described Bro as a comedy with dramatic touches that focuses on the evolution of a relationship defined by differences and the need for mutual support.
