Spanish actor Carlos Cuevas has revealed that the constant unpredictability of the acting industry leaves him unable to plan summer vacations in advance. Speaking on the radio podcast El Cine en la SER, where he recently presented his movie El Anfitrión, the actor explained that role offers frequently arrive with only a few weeks of notice before filming begins.
Cuevas explained that when his friends book trips, he has to warn them that he cannot confirm his availability until two weeks before departure. The Catalan actor, best known for his role in the popular television series Merlí, said he has never been able to plan a holiday in his life because an unexpected casting call could disrupt any itinerary.

According to Cuevas, production commitments in film and television generally emerge within a narrow time frame of three to six months. He noted that actors might receive up to half a year of advance notice only when cast as the lead character or when a project has been in active development for an extended period.
Because new work opportunities can surface just three months down the line, Cuevas said long-term planning makes little sense. He observed that his vacations are simply the periods when he is out of work, describing those breaks as time off that can feel either refreshing or troubling depending on how long it has been since his last job.
