Carlos Vives has released a new song called "Yo Siempre Estoy Aqui" (I Am Always Here), dedicated to his four children and the feeling of watching them grow up and move on.
In a video shared on Instagram, Vives described the track as one of the most intimate songs he has ever made. He said it was written by a father who wants to capture the moment when children begin to leave the nest, and what a parent wishes for them. He described it as something like the last cry of a father who cannot hold back everything that is coming, knowing his children will take their own paths and build their own families. He added that he and other parents feel they are beginning to be left alone, but that they will always be there for their children.
Vives has four children: Lucy, Carlos, Elena, and Pedro. On social media, he said his new album, El Ultimo Disco, gave him the opportunity to put everything he wanted to say to them into a single song.
His Four Children
Lucy, his eldest, was born in Puerto Rico in 1996 from his previous marriage to Herlinda Gomez. She studied philosophy but has since moved into musical projects.
His second child, Carlos Enrique, 28, has taken a different path, working as a genetic director at a biopharmaceutical company. Despite keeping a low profile, he has expressed pride in contributing to human wellbeing through science.
Elena, 18, is his first child with his current partner, Claudia Vasquez. She appeared alongside her father in the series El Club De Los Graves, and the visible closeness between them has helped many fans connect with the singer.
Pedro, the youngest at nearly 16, is described by his father as someone full of joy, music, life, and smiles. Vives has shared many moments with him on social media.

"Yo Siempre Estoy Aqui" appears on El Ultimo Disco Vol. 1, which Vives released in May. The ten-track album features collaborations with Juan Luis Guerra, Sergio George, and Nina Pastori.
