Inspiration for young artists, the singer is an influence on the new music scene in Brazil
Singer Rita Lee surprised fans with an appearance on social media this Tuesday 14. The photo was posted by the singer’s husband, Roberto de Carvalho, on his Instagram page and the queen of rock appears with short hair on the record.
Artists and fans melted into the comments and celebrated. “Good morning our love! Music of our lives!” wrote journalist Nelson Motta. “How beautiful always!!! Couple loved by all!!”, commented the presenter Serginho Groisman.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2021, Rita Lee has kept a low profile on social media and out of the spotlight throughout her treatment. She the artist disclosed remission of the disease and announced that she was fully cured in April 2022.
Inspiration for new artists
The singer who has always been known for her irreverent and standards-defying music now inspires a new generation of Brazilian artists. Manu Gavassi, 30, has always declared himself a fan of Rita’s work and follows in the footsteps of the inspiring diva while remaining authentic in her artistic journey.
In excerpts from his own compositions, he has already mentioned Rita Lee. “Mixtura de Rita com Amelie”, sings Gavassi in the hit ‘Deve Ser Horrível Dormir Sem Mim’, feat with Glória Groove. In ‘Bossa Nossa’ the singer reveals: “I never liked Mutantes without Rita Lee”.
Recently, Manu recorded the Acoustic MTV ‘Manu Gavassi Canta Fruto Proibido’ as a tribute to the artist. The space that was released on the Paramount + streaming channel has once again strengthened the affection for the work of the Queen of Rock.
