The surfer will talk about his life at the 2023 Carnival from the União do Parque Curicica
the surfer Peter Scoby will be honored at the União do Parque Curicica parade next weekend. Rio’s West Zone samba school will tell the 34-year-old athlete’s life story on Estrada Intendente Magalhães, through the Silver Series of Carnival.
The plot “Pedro Scooby – The lover of this sea of \u200b\u200bCuricica people” was defined in October last year and will be performed by the carnival artist Rodrigo Meiners. The school is the third to parade on the 25th. Kelly Lunna, director of the association’s Carnival, explained the choice of the surfer as a plot.
“Pedro was chosen because the União do Parque Curicica celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023. So, we wanted to honor our community, and Scooby is a Curicica calf. He bears the name of the neighborhood all over the world. He has surpassed all the adversity that was imposed on him. a young man growing up in the West Zone of Rio. He was raised by a single mother and found in sports a way to win this battle. Today he is an example of life for our children,” he explained.
“In the show, we start by telling the story of Surf, we show Pedro that he likes funk, that he had a playful childhood and a lot of love. We will also talk about the liberation he had in Nazaré, with faith. In addition to talking about Curicica, our community, the way we experience the West Zone,” he added.
Scooby started surfing as a child and won the “Best freesurfer of the year” award from the magazine “Alma Surf” in 2012. A big wave athlete, Pedro had a delicate moment in Nazaré, in 2019, when he was swallowed by a wave and was submerged for a few minutes before being rescued.
Pedro Scooby gained even more notoriety in the country by participating in Big Brother Brazil 2022, where he finished in fifth place. Previously, the athlete had already participated in the reality show “Exathlon”, from Band. Scooby was in the school courthouse a few weeks ago and posed for pictures with a few members.
“Pedro was very happy. It was a form of gratitude for all the love he has for Curicica. When we spoke, he went on social media and celebrated. When he goes to court, he finds a lot of affection, from the old guard, from Bahia, from all segments of the school. Many have seen Pedro grow up, fly a kite, play ball. His family is also very present on the court and will be in the parade, as will his friends,” Kelly commented.
Scooby is the father of Liz, Bem and Dom, children with the actress Luana Piovani, with whom he has been controversial in recent weeks. The surfer is currently married to model Cíntia Dicker and had little Aurora, born in December. The athlete’s children will not be in the parade, while Scooby’s current wife is yet to be confirmed.
