Leonardo Bagarolo: multifaceted artist, father of a pet and good-humored cinephile

Léo has more than 18 million followers on social networks; meet the father of pets influencer

Imagine that you are in a management position in a multinational company and you venture into content creation. For some it might even be a tough decision, but for Leonard Bagarolo34 years old, father of Madeleine and the beakthe puppies responsible for doing so already have more than 18 million social network followers.

Born in Campinas, a municipality in the hinterland of São Paulo with just over 1 million inhabitants, Léo is successful on the internet as a pet influencer and also for his humorous videos. Married to an economist Evelin Camargo, who is also an influencer, has a communications degree with a film degree. The couple love to travel. The two are also parents of Lollaa kitty with over 350,000 Instagram followers.

When asked what made him give up his administrative career to become an influencer, Léo says it didn’t happen suddenly.

“I wouldn’t even say I gave up everything, I just gave up the CLT. In fact, it was a process, it didn’t happen overnight, because I’m very cautious and fearful. So, it took me a while to take that decision It all started during the pandemic, I stayed home working from home, worked at a multinational company, was a manager, had a legal position, an attractive growth expectation and the opportunity to work outside the country. anyway, I had a comfortable situation, however, I was a bit stagnant,” he said in an interview with Stadium.

Bagarolo reveals that, at the beginning, the goal of showing the routine of his pets was only to win the so-called “treats” from companies in the sector. “We created the profile of Mada and Bica, who are our little dogs. I spent a lot of time with them, observing their routine. Having a degree in filmmaking, I have a very sensitive artistic side, which facilitates the creation of content. I was fine low profile, didn’t even have my profile. So I created their profile so we could get free stuff, toys, food, collar. But it took on a very large proportion.”

The influencer points out that, from that moment, he has arrived in a situation of choice. “I had to make a decision: whether to continue with my career being built at the company or embark on a path where I didn’t know what my next step would be.”

Mada, Bica and Lola

Leo shares how each of his pets has come to change his life. Bica is an eight-year-old pinscher and was chosen to keep the influencer company when he moved to the capital, São Paulo. “Bica is the oldest. It was already mine when I came to São Paulo to work for the multinational. I bought a pinscher because, at the time, I was alone and single, I needed company at home. My other dog, a beagle, he stayed with my mother,” she said.

Next to arrive was feline Lola, a seven-year-old mixed-breed cat who doesn’t really like her little sister. “In the future, I met my wife Evelin, and she already had Lola, an adopted bastard. We got together, but Bica and Lola didn’t get along very well, they still hate each other,” she jokes.

Madalena, or simply Mada, is the youngest of the family. At the age of four, she was the lucky one among the puppies of a kennel located inside SP. “We said to ourselves: ‘Why not get another dog?’. Evelin has always liked bulldogs, it has always been her life’s dream. She is passionate about dogs and we saw some puppies, then she said: ‘let’s go, then we will decide whether to take them or not.” I said I wasn’t leaving without a puppy.

successful profiles

Bagarolo says the content creation started with a focus on Madalena, but Bica ended up stealing the spotlight. The @madaebica profile has more than 1 million followers on Instagram and almost 9 million on Tik Tok.

Defined in her biography on Instagram as a “curious cat”, Lola has a separate account from her sisters. “Lola is a little more complicated, she is more nervous and in her way. So, later on, I created a separate profile for her,” justifies Léo.

However, the influencer has always been a very present character in pet videos. “I was always the character there, it was how I found out to feel less ashamed and take the first step on the internet, because I didn’t have to be myself. You can be judged on the internet, I still have this problem today, but I currently deal better than that. The way I found was to be their father, I didn’t even have a name there,” he pointed out.

Léo adds that he felt the need to expand the content, as the lifespan of animals is shorter than that of humans. From that moment on, he also started investing in himself.

“I was low profile. A year and a half ago I had just over 300 followers. Really, I didn’t post, my profile only physically existed. So, I started creating authentic content, where we approach everyday humor, couple humor, mother and son humor. At the same time, I could be myself, expressing opinions and talking about things happening in the world, as the pet profile usually doesn’t have political, critical or other positions,” he revealed.

family and marriage

Leonardo talks about his relationship with his family and how they reacted to his decision to focus on his career as a content creator. An only child of separated parents, he claims to have a very strong bond with his mother and always visits her family when he can.

“People in the family are already with us, so it’s very natural for them, including my career change. My family lives in the countryside, I visit regularly, I’m an only child, from separated parents, but very close to my mother. When I go by Artur Nogueira [município da região metropolitana de Campinas] It’s the city event, right?! My mom says, ‘Come and meet my son here at my house, he’s here, tell that person.’ She’s proud of me.”

Together for five years, Léo details how he met Evelin, who also creates content on his profile. “We met at our old company, we were trainees. I was single, super happy and had a good time after dating for nine years, my whole adolescence was dating. Then, she appeared, there were months of insisting, because I really didn’t want a new relationship. But she had already pierced my heart”.

The influencer explains that they dated remotely for a while before moving to São Paulo and that he likes being married. “It’s very nice to get married, even more so if both people have the same goal. We complement each other a lot, even with each other’s behavioral differences.”

The artist and the dream

Bagarolo defines himself as a cinema lover, a cinephile, underlining throughout the interview to Stadium your passion for the territory. Since childhood he dreamed of being part of a film. He has already done theater and participated in some commercial comedies. In his college days, he ventured into an exchange program in Los Angeles, imagined with Hollywood, but he says he was left frustrated.

“In Brazil it’s quite complicated because it’s a very closed area. I thought it was different in the United States, so when I was in college I did an exchange program in Los Angeles. However, I came back frustrated, thinking: ‘wow, this is worse than in Brazil, because it’s almost impossible to get a ticket here,'” he said.

Despite the experience, Léo points out that cinema is still his big dream.

“The internet was what gave me a little bigger look that is still possible. We see this natural migration between the internet and audiovisual, and vice versa. Best actor and speak in English outside my country. I know that It’s a long way out, but today I understand that path much better. I’m in no hurry, because I’m already living a dream right now. I can’t be hypocritical, it’s wonderful, I love it and I want to keep doing it for a long time, but it’s there I want to get there,” he adds.

When asked what his favorite movie is, despite noting that he likes horror movies, he chooses a winner of the oscar. “Asking a cinephile what his favorite movie is is very cruel [risos]. We are very sorry to discard other film productions, but I have one that I consider top 1 and I will always indicate it: Parasite. I think it’s not just a film about Asian culture, from Korea, it speaks a lot about our reality here in Brazil. It is a very sensitive film, well shot and with good performances. That’s what struck me the most because I identified with the plot and it’s a timeless film.”

However, he also made a point of saying what his favorite horror movie is. “Currently, the best horror film is Mid summer. I love it, it’s great”

Future

For 2023, Léo Bagarolo underlines that the focus will be on investments in personal profiles and partnerships. “The development of personal profiles is our focus this year, bringing Léo and Evelin into the spotlight. For Mada and Bica, we will work on brand licensing, creating products, we have already registered each product category we want to launch. In addition, we want to look for good profitable partnerships with other brands,” he concludes.
