Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s homeless brother, dies at the age of 66


The announcement was made by Joe Henry, the artist’s brother-in-law, via social networks; the cause of death was not disclosed

Antonio Cicconethe older brother of Madonna, died this Friday, aged 24, at the age of 66. The news was confirmed by Joe Henrybrother-in-law of the artist, through a publication on Instagram. The cause of death was not disclosed.




Joe said he has known Anthony since he was 15 and described him as “a complex character”. “Sometimes we disagreed, like brothers do. But I loved him and understood him better than I sometimes let on,” he wrote.

Henry said “the problems go away and the family stays”. “Goodbye, brother Antonio. I want to think that God and your – and mine – blessed mother are waiting for you. At least for today, no one will distract me from this vision”, he concluded.

Ciccone also lived on the streets and faced alcoholism, according to information from the British newspaper daily email. In a 2011 tabloid interview, Anthony lamented his relationship with his family, saying his relatives didn’t care about his situation.

“I’m nothing in their eyes, a non-person, a disgrace,” she said. “If I were to freeze to death, my family wouldn’t know or worry about it for six months.”

According to the newspaper, Madonna had already offered to pay for her brother’s rehab trip, which he criticized. At the time Ciccone said he wanted a job and to be reunited with his son whom he hadn’t seen for ten years. “My family seems to think that rehabilitation is some kind of magic cure-all for life’s ills,” he said.

According to the British tabloid, Anthony returned to live with his family after undergoing a rehabilitation program in 2017.
