Nelly Furtado’s name once again made headlines all over Brazil. This is because, recently, the singer filed a lawsuit to obtain the copyright of the hit “Lovezinho”, which has gone viral on TikTok.




But, after all, who is the singer Nelly Furtado?

She was born on December 2, 1978 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Furtado began his music career in the late 1990s, releasing his debut album “Whoa, Nelly!” In 2000.

The album was a commercial success, with hit singles such as “I’m Like a Bird” and “Turn Off the Light”. The album earned Furtado a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2002. She released her second album, ‘Folklore’, in 2003, which showcased a more experimental sound and explored her Portuguese heritage.

In 2006, Furtado released his third album, ‘Loose’ which was a departure from his previous work and featured a more dance-pop sound. The album included hit singles such as “Promiscuous” and “Maneater”, which topped the charts worldwide.

However, his hit “Say It Right,” used as a sample for the song “Lovezinho,” by funk artist Treyce, brought the iconic 2000s artist back into the social media spotlight.
