“Gibson said I’m old!” : Sharon Stone and her fight for the best roles

In the 90s of the last century, Sharon Stone was one of the brightest stars in the Hollywood sky. Her career could have been even better had it not been for the brain haemorrhage the actress suffered at age 43 in 2001. She was seriously worried that she might not live to be fifty, but now she is over 60 – and Sharon thinks that notable new roles are yet to come. Although many colleagues consider it unbearable!

The problem of “Basic Instinct – 2”

Sharon cannot be called modest and peaceful. Stone was repeatedly accused of slowing down the filming process and the “diva’s” behavior on set. She also participated in the suspension of certain filming colleagues.

For example, in 1992 she starred in the film Basic Instinct, which was on the list of the best Hollywood films of all time. And in 2001, she filed a complaint for 100 million dollars against the producers of the future second part. Why? She accused them of not having paid the promised 14 million for the filming of a sequel – whether there is one or not!

In the text of the lawsuit, the actress said that she was fully prepared for the filming and canceled all other offers in order to focus entirely on this film. The producers replied that there was no contract, and that Stone herself had refused to star with Benjamin Bratt as an on-screen partner.

“She didn’t think he was a good enough actor,” they explained. “Like, he looks too young compared to his past.” Additionally, they said the 43-year-old actress was too old for such a candid role, as the first film was made nearly 10 years ago.

In the end, everything ended with the shooting of the second part, which turned out to be far from as good as the first.

“Big Ego”

In 2014, the actress starred in the Italian film Golden Boy, the director of which was not happy with her behavior. He said the cost per star exceeded the film’s modest budget. In particular, Stone demanded payment for an expensive hotel room, where she was constantly besieged by paparazzi.

On the last day of filming, the most unpleasant thing happened. She needed to kiss actor Ricardo Scamarchio and noticed a crowd of photographers and cameramen outside the set. She only started playing her role when the foreigners were deported. Nevertheless, the director will not refuse to work with Stone again and her manager has denied all the accusations.

Damaged value

In 2018, Sharon Stone confessed that after her hit in 2001, Hollywood considered her a wasted value: “Of course, I look like a real curiosity and I don’t want to tell anyone the details of what happened.. I am very happy to have another chance”.

A little later, Sharon nevertheless told some details about her health and her life after a hemorrhage: “I lost my marriage, custody of the children (she and Phil Bronstein adopted the boy Roen in 2000. – ed. approx. ), my place in the movie business, all the money, because you had to pay for different things… I know what it means to end up in a situation where you’re at the top of the pyramid in your business, and then everything falls apart overnight. And a lot of things happened just because no one could look at me and understand that I had a brain hemorrhage.

Sharon Against Ageism

Over the years, Sharon Stone felt more and more the pressure of age: “Mel Gibson is three years older than me, but he thought I was too old to play with him.”

And now, in her 60s, she perfectly plays the roles of younger characters. In the comedy “All I Want” she was supposed to play the mother of the main character, but refused this role in favor of the heroine herself. And she did!
