Two marriages, a broken engagement and an affair with a violent rapper: Avril Lavigne’s attempts to improve her personal life

From rocker to rapper, Avril fell in love with different men.

In the early 2000s, Lavigne dated Jesse Colburn, her band’s guitarist. The office romance fell apart in 2004 and the musician left the band after breaking up with Avril.

Sum 41 singer Derick Whibley became Avril’s first serious love. They met when she was just 17, but started dating when she was 19. The tough rocker in a relationship with the singer turned out to be an incredible romantic. He proposed to April in Venice on a gondola ride.

The singer’s next chosen one was model, socialite and reality TV star Brody Jenner, half-brother to Kendall and Kylie Jenner. They began dating almost immediately after Lavigne’s divorce was finalized in 2010. Confirmation of the romance quickly entered the press – paparazzi filmed them kissing in Las Vegas. However, by January 2012, Jenner and Lavigne had separated but remained friends.

Once again, Avril was not bored on her own and almost immediately started dating Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger. The period of the candy bouquet lasted six months, and in August the musician proposed to her, presenting a ring with a 14-carat diamond.

They married on July 1, 2013 in the south of France. In the first months after the wedding, both were delighted with family life. Okay, Chad said Avril was a great cook.

However, in September 2015, after two years of marriage, they filed for divorce.

“It is with heavy hearts that Chad and I announce our separation today. Not only through marriage, but also through music, we have shared many unforgettable moments. We remain best friends and will always take care of each other. each other,” April wrote on the blog at the time.

By the way, these were not empty words. In 2016 they recorded music together and in 2017 they performed.

Rumors of Avril’s romance with a music producer emerged after he posted a joint photo in August 2017 while working together in the studio. Then the paparazzi caught them holding hands on one of the walks. They have not commented on their relationship. However, if there was a novel, it was very short. After 2017, the couple have not been seen together.

Lavigne and Philip Sarofim, the son of Egyptian-American billionaire Fayez Sarofim, were spotted dining together in March 2018 in Los Angeles and were seen holding hands on a romantic outing the following month.

Insiders reported that the pair met “through friends at a dinner party.” Lavigne and Sarofim were seen dating again in May 2018, but by November 2019 they had already broken up.

In 2020, Avril briefly dated indie musician Pete Jonas. They made their relationship public when they appeared on the red carpet together at Clive Davis’ annual Grammy Gala in January 2020. Lavigne and musician Maud Sun (real name Derek Smith) first met while working together on her album Love Sux in January 2021. In September of the same year, they confirmed their relationship, and in March 2022, the musician proposes to Avril during a trip to Paris.

“It was the most perfect, romantic proposal I could dream of. We cruised in a boat on the Seine. There was a violinist, champagne and roses, and just the two of us,” Lavigne explained.

A year later, the musicians broke off the engagement.

Judging by insider comments, it was Lavigne who initiated it, and for Maud Sun, it was a nasty surprise.

Avril and rapper Tyga were first spotted together on Feb. 19, 2023. The couple dined at Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles the day before they publicly called off their engagement to Maud Sun. Any doubts about what connects them, the couple dissipated during Paris Fashion Week, where they, without hiding, kissed in front of everyone.

“Tyga and Avril are slowly getting to know each other. It’s all very laid back,” an insider said.

Tyga dated Blac Chyna, with whom he has a son, and Kylie Jenner. Avril herself has no children yet.

By the way, the singer should be careful, because in 2021 the rapper was arrested for domestic violence, and later released on $50,000 bail.
