A paradoxical quote from Daria Dontsova about life with her husband, which changes the view of marriage

Famous writer Daria Dontsova was widowed on March 8, 2023. Her husband Alexander, with whom she lived for 40 years, died of cancer – ironically, Dontsova herself once battled cancer, but was able to win this fight. Let’s remember some interesting facts about their family life.

Alexander Dontsov became Dontsova’s third husband. The first two marriages can hardly be called successful: the first husband Dmitry Demin silently disappeared from Daria’s life when she was pregnant. With her second husband, Boris Kapustin, she lived for seven years. At the institute of marriage, the writer was already disillusioned, but a meeting with the doctor of psychology Alexander Dontsov in 1983 changed everything.

Together they went through the most terrible difficulties. In 1997, Daria was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors gave only grim prognoses. Dontsova naturally prepared for death – she even asked her best friend, endocrinologist Oksana Glod, to marry Alexander so that he would not be left alone and there would be someone to help him. take care of children.

“The most important thing is to calm the patient down and agree. And I was sure that we could cope with it,” Oksana recalled of this episode. In fact, she began to urgently search for the right doctor for her friend.

The struggle and victory over Daria’s disease brought the three together. Dontsova trusted her friend so much that she even calmly let her husband go on vacation with her, while she herself remained in Moscow.

“They both love the Maldives, Goa, but I’m terribly afraid of planes, and then the doctors absolutely forbid me all that heat. And they feel good there. So why don’t they go there Dontsova answered puzzled questions from reporters about how she could allow this to happen.

Dontsova called trust, patience and the ability to forgive the secret of family life. The writer herself never tormented her husband with jealousy and urged everyone not to “harass” the spouses.

“If my husband cheated on me, I wouldn’t mind. There must be female modesty. Climbing with her husband on the phone, in his pockets, in his wallet is indecent. A note fell out of my pocket – it’s not addressed to you, don’t read it! By mistake, the spouse’s phone dialed your number, and you hear the husband’s conversation with his mistress – you have to interrupt the call and think: why is he not with me now, but with his mistress? Is he an uncontrollable womanizer? So why did you marry him? Or did you take him on a trip to another woman with your endless demands and authoritative tone? ”, Dontsova honestly admitted, again surprising journalists with her atypical view of family life and calmness.

After the problems experienced together, the spouses apparently really had no reason not to trust each other, and Daria, in fact, was able to make sure of Alexander’s reliability.

Once upon a time, the writer was preparing her husband to live without her, and now she herself will have to learn to live without a loved one. Alexander Dontsov died of bowel cancer at the age of 73.
