Donors found! Rastorguev, Gomez and other stars who received organ transplants

Everyone has health problems, and sometimes a major organ transplant is the only way to prolong life. Celebrities also have to go under the surgeon’s knife!

Nikolai Rastorguev

In 2015, the head of the Lube group fell ill with pneumonia, which caused kidney complications. Since then, he has been waiting for an organ donor and regularly undergoes hemodialysis. Interestingly, fans offered him their own kidneys, but Rastorguev refused and waited for his turn, which took place in February 2018. The operation was successful, and since then Nikolai has had no health problems .

Selena Gomez

The singer has suffered from an autoimmune disease, lupus, since childhood. The disease complicated the kidneys and she needed a transplant. The waiting list for a donor in the United States is very long: Selena could be waiting for an organ in 10 years, and all the while she would have to go to the hospital for a dialysis procedure.

Fortunately, her friend and former neighbor Francia Raisa was the only person who matched as a donor. She agreed to donate a kidney to Selena and literally saved her life in 2017.

Sarah Hyland

The Modern Family star has suffered from kidney dysplasia for many years. In 2012, his own father gave him his kidney… but then there was a rejection. As a result, Sarah needed a second transplant in 2017, and this time her own brother became the donor. Since then, the actress has been open about her experiences and encourages others not to hide their health issues.

Steve Jobs

The businessman and innovator suffered from pancreatic cancer for many years, from which he eventually died. But few people know that in 2009 he underwent a liver transplant. It is still not clear how he managed to “jump” the queue and who became the donor, but, alas, this operation did not help: a year later he died.

Mandy Patinkin

The actor of the series Criminal Minds and Homeland in the 90s learned about an unpleasant diagnosis – keratoconus, due to which he quickly lost his sight. He had to undergo a transplant of both corneas, after which the situation improved, but he will have to wear glasses for the rest of his life.

Lucy Davis

The ‘The Office’ and ‘Shaun of the Dead’ actress underwent a routine checkup which revealed she had kidney failure. She waited for a transplant but eventually accepted an organ donated by her own mother. Since then, the actress has been doing well.

James Redford

The son of Robert Redford and a fairly well-known director survived the transplant twice. Due to complications from ulcerative colitis, he had to agree to a liver transplant, and a few years later – again. About the generosity of people who share organs, Redford then made a documentary.
