Sharon Stone lost half her fortune in the Silicon Valley banking crash

Actress Sharon Stone is one of the victims of the Silicon Valley bank failure, which led to panic in the financial market and in the US economy itself. After being recognized for her support of cancer treatment research at a gala dinner hosted by the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF) in California, she revealed in her speech that she had suffered a million dollar loss.

US regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and seized its clients’ deposits after announcing its bankruptcy last Friday (10/3), marking the largest bank failure in the country since 2008.

“I just lost half my money on that deal there,” she said, in tears, at the event which took place on Thursday evening (17/03). She then mentioned the recent death of her brother, Patrick Stone, to reassure her that, despite the odds, checks from her to a WCRF philanthropic fund will continue to be sent.

Known as the “Courage Award,” the WCRF award is presented annually to those who go beyond their limits to aid researchers who seek to discover more effective therapies against all types of cancer. Stone herself revealed that she was diagnosed in late 2022 with a “large benign tumor” in the uterine region, after others she discovered years ago in her armpits and breasts.

“We live in difficult times, it’s not easy for anyone,” continued the star, whose personal fortune has already been estimated at $60 million. “But I don’t accept that they value my life, I know exactly what I’m worth and I challenge everyone to think the same way. Courage for me is this ”, she concluded she.
