The former model who had a child with Roberto Carlos died shortly after the DNA test

“I, who had 3 wonderful children, Ana Paula, Luciana and Dudu, had another one and learned to love him,” said Roberto Carlos in his Globo Year-End Special in 1996.

“I want to introduce you to my singing son, Rafael Braga,” he said. And together they sang ‘As Curvas da Estrada de Santos’ live. The audience applauded the duet marked by the manifestation of affection.

Rafael Braga was 26 when he searched for Brazil’s most popular singer with a folder of documents. I wanted to prove paternity.

The “King” was thoughtful. He confirmed he had a quick relationship with the boy’s mother, then-model Maria Lucila Torres, and suggested a DNA test.

The positive result confirmed what Rafael’s resemblance left no doubt: he really was the son of the singer. The paperwork was done to make him a Braga, as were the other RC heirs.

Interestingly, the young musician had a hard time believing the story his mother told. “I thought she was an obsessed fan,” he said in an interview with ‘Canal F’, of ‘Fantástico’, at the time.

“When my mom was diagnosed with cancer, the doctor said to me, ‘look, your mom doesn’t have long to live.’ Then I thought: ‘if I don’t care much, at least for her, I have to do it’”.

Rafael revealed Maria Lucilla’s anguish in establishing the truth of her origin. “That was her her life, that was all she thought about. ‘My son, you are her son, you are her son! It can’t stay like this. You can’t stay here without him knowing anything.’”

Maria Lucilla was happy to see Rafael recognized by Roberto Carlos. But she couldn’t keep up with the strengthening relationship between the two.

“I only had time to show her the identity card with the surname Braga. About three months later, she died. I was just waiting for this,” said the boy.

Rafael abandoned his artistic career and today works at his father’s famous companies. He is 57 years old. Roberto Carlos’ youngest, journalist Luciana Braga, is 53 years old.

The singer has lost two children. Ana Paula, born of his previous marriage to his first wife, Nice, died at the age of 47 of a heart problem in April 2011.

Music producer and radialist Dudu Braga fell victim to cancer in September 2021. He was 52 years old.

On the eve of his 82nd birthday, Roberto Carlos is experiencing a new phase in his career and personal life.

He ended his 30-year partnership with entrepreneur Dody Sirena to give his projects a new direction.

After more than 20 single years, since the death of Maria Rita, the king of romance has a new girlfriend. Her identity is currently unknown.
