‘The Little Mermaid’ Director Explains Why Harry Styles Didn’t Play Prince Eric; watch

The live-action director of The little Mermaid, Rob Marshallhe confirmed it Harry Styles was considered to live the Prince Eric in the feature film and revealed why the singer ended up not being cast in the role.

In a magazine interview Entertainment Weekly released on Tuesday the 4th, he explained that Styles wanted to go in different directions. “We met him. He was adorable. What a great guy. But ultimately, he felt like she wanted to go out and do the movies that he ended up doing, which were pretty dark,” he said.

In 2022, the artist starred in two feature films: Do not worry dearacting with Florence Pug and directed by Olivia WildeAND My copin which there is a love triangle with David Dawson AND Emma Corrin. Longs are available on HBO Max and not First videorespectively.

“For a lot of young musicals like Harry, you’re trying to make your way and you don’t want to be seen as a singer, necessarily,” Marshall continued. “That’s why he was really trying to do something outside of the music genre, to really branch out.”

“It was a really fun idea to play with, but in the end I always think things happen for a reason. I’m really happy to have two new young people in the film,” concluded the director.

Whoever ended up being cast as Eric was the British actor Jonah Hauer-King, 27 years old. Her main job was Laurie’s in the miniseries Little Womenpublished by the BBC in 2017.
