Laima was born in a simple Soviet family. Her father, Stanislav Vaikulis, was a worker, and her mother, Yanina, worked as a saleswoman. Although neither parent was associated with art, Lyme exhibited art from childhood. She loved to sing and dance, but after school she nevertheless chose a more practical profession – she went to medical school.

And yet, without music, she could not. It is known that the future pop star began her career in the Latvian variety show Juras Perle, then entered GITIS and, without interrupting her studies, began to act as a singer.

Soon the first hits appeared in his repertoire – “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Charlie” and a remake of the song “Yellow Leaves”. In the 90s, the career of the Latvian singer also accelerated – a new wave of popularity was provided by the hits “I went to Piccadilly” and “Acapulco”.

Today, Laima rarely performs and cannot please the audience with new hits. In recent years, the performer has been noted not so much for his musical achievements as for his political statements. In his native Latvia, Vaikule organized a festival in support of young musicians.

There were also rumors in the press that the singer had a relapse of an oncological disease – in the 90s, Lyme fought breast cancer and, after treatment in the United States, was able to beat the disease. But in the summer of 2022, photos of the artist with a short haircut and a headscarf began to appear on the network, after which many decided that she was again undergoing chemotherapy. Vaikule did not comment on the rumors, but admitted that she does have health issues, however, and called for prayers for her.

Laima does not have children, but she does not suffer from loneliness and often spends time in the company of her friend Alla Pugacheva and her family, and also continues to go on stage and meet her fans, who, as before , waiting for their favourite. shots.
