“Very misunderstood,” says Gianecchini after the LGBT statement

Netizens slammed the actor’s statement on a TV show about being a ‘sympathizer’ of the cause and not going to ‘gay clubs’

Actor Reynaldo Gianecchini, 50, used his Instagram profile last Friday, 14, to speak after the negative repercussions of the statements he made on the LGBTQIAP+ community. The heartthrob said he was “quite misunderstood”.

The conflict began last Tuesday, the 11th, when he was interviewed on the programme Conversation with Bial. At the time, Gianecchini declared that he considered himself a “sympathizer of the cause”, but that he had not seen the words “I am gay” on his forehead.

In a new statement, the actor defended himself against the criticisms he received.

“Guys, I’m going to comment on a repetition that I’m seeing on social media about the interview I did with Bial, about some aspect of it and that I think I was quite misunderstood,” he began. “I would never say I’m not part of the LGBTGIAP+ community. I’ve always said that, at the very least, I’m an advocate.”

Gianecchini said that in recent years he has expressed his fluid sexuality, and that he fits, in his words, into one of “those letters” of the acronym. According to him, the statement to Pedro Bial was only a personal account out of fear of being attacked.

“I think that was quite implied. I’m not looking at it from a distance, I’m part of it. What I was trying to say there is that the gay community, with all its characteristics, with its identities, took me a while to get into “, he explained.

Television controversy

While participating in Conversation with Bial, the actor’s controversial jokes have gone viral on the web. According to Gianecchini, he considered himself a supporter of the LGBTQIAP+ movement.

“I’ve always been very nice, and I’ve already said that my sexuality is fluid. I circulate very well there, but I’ve never entered it… In that sense… I’ve never been a regular at gay bars, discos. ‘Maybe I didn’t see myself there, ‘I’m gay’ written on my forehead. I always thought I was wide and then I thought it was weird to be in a place where everyone appeared on their foreheads,” he said.
