Few places in the world are as luxurious as the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi. Lula and Janja have entered the VIP guest book of the 7-star hotel in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

After leaving Beijing for a state visit, the president, first lady and entourage landed in the country on the Arabian peninsula for another round of trade and environmental deal negotiations.

Staying in a standard suite at the Emirates Palace costs an average of US$2,000. Larger rooms with exclusive services, such as a 24-hour butler, charge up to BRL 30,000 per day.

Lula and Janja didn’t pay for their luxurious stay. As official guests of the government, they covered all expenses, as highlighted by Bianca Rothier, correspondent for Globo and GloboNews, in a TV article.

The guest of the couple was the president of the Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with a fortune estimated at 30 billion dollars.

The busy schedule did not allow Lula and Janja to take advantage of the hotel’s attractions, such as the private beach, the temperature-controlled pools, the spa with “healing sensory journeys”, the boat trips, the gym, the tennis court and the cycle path.

The hotel has 14 restaurants for all types of palates. Among the delicacies, camel meat burgers with a splash of 24-karat gold, caviar in tomato water infusion, black truffle with artichokes, crab soup and crispy duck salad.

The Emirates Palace looks like one of those fantastic settings from the tales of the Arabian Nights.
