A large team of professionals are always working on a movie, and yet mistakes happen – either they miscalculate the costume, or they slip in musical instruments from the future.
We have collected some glaring inaccuracies in popular paintwork for you – next time watch out for those punctures.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
In a scene from this 2008 film, Brad Pitt appears wearing stylish Ray Ban Model 3025 Aviator sunglasses. According to the plot, this scene takes place in 1945, but this model of glasses did not appear until 1952.
“Catch Me If You Can”

This movie about a world-class con artist played by Leonardo DiCaprio is set in the 1960s. In one scene, we see Amy Adams as a nurse with stainless steel braces attached to the front of her teeth. But in the 1960s, most rings were gold and attached differently.
“Pirates of the Caribbean”
The British Royal Navy uniform worn by the characters was introduced in 1747. But in the film, the king of England at the time is George I, and George I was king between 1714 and 1727. These sailors had to be just ahead of their time.
“Autumn Legends”
In the film, Brad Pitt plays Tristan Ludlow, a cowboy who lived in the early 1900s. His hair, however, looks like it was done in the 60s. Overall, he looks more like a glam rock star than to a farmer at the turn of the century.
“The First Avenger”
Although Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy, was in 1940s fashion, women in the military were only required to wear their hair pulled back.
“Ten Commandments”
Anna Baxter as Nefertiti looked stunning in a blue dress! But the problem is that at that time no one else had access to the blue dye. It will appear later and will long be considered extremely rare and valuable due to the difficulty of its production.
“Back to the future”
Marty McFly can time travel, but that doesn’t mean things can do the same. The guitar that Marty plays in the scene set in 1955 was not released until 1958.
“Pearl Harbor”
During the World War II era, women could not be seen without stockings worn under the dress. That would have been too frank for those years. And we just see the heroines of the film with bare legs.
“Dirty Dance”
The action takes place in 1963, and the film itself was shot in the 80s. And the fashion of that time influenced artists, it seems, much more. So, the shortened denim shorts worn by the heroine became fashionable precisely in the 80s. No one wore these in the 60s.
“Pride and Prejudice”
In one of the scenes, Keira Knightley’s character can be seen in rubber boots. But they weren’t invented until twenty years after the events of the book.
