Halyna Hutchins’ family suits Alec Baldwin

The family of Halyna Hutchins (“The Hatter of Evil”), director of photography killed on the set of “Rust”, will continue to sue Alec Baldwin (“A Star Is Born”), despite the fact that American justice has renounced to accuse him. Working as an actor and producer on ‘Rust,’ Baldwin was holding the alleged movie gun that killed Hutchins during the filming of the film in October 2021.

The lawsuit was filed by Hutchins’ parents and sister. The producer’s husband does not participate in the legal action: he had reached an agreement with Alec Baldwin in 2022 and had already said that he considered his wife’s death “a terrible accident”. The family’s attorney, Gloria Allred, said her clients are confident.

“Mr. Baldwin can pretend he’s not responsible for pulling the trigger and firing a real bullet that killed Halyna. [o estado de] Montana and pretend he’s just an actor in a western, but in real life he can’t escape the fact that he played a major role in a tragedy that had real-life consequences.”

Alec Baldwin’s defense says the lawsuit is “misleading” and will not go to trial.

The civil action has nothing to do with the criminal investigation. He demands financial compensation for the principal’s relatives.

The criminal charges against the actor were dropped in the New Mexico District Court two weeks before the trial began.

The gunsmith who delivered the gun loaded with a live bullet to the plaintiff, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is still under indictment and faces trial. Dave Halls, the assistant director who told Baldwin the gun was out of ammunition, pleaded guilty and agreed to serve six months’ probation.

Joel Souza (“Crown Vic”), the film’s director who was also injured in the crash, says he has mixed feelings about the trial and wants to finish “Rust” in honor of Halyna Hutchins. The shooting of the film resumed this Friday (21st) and is expected to conclude in May as a tribute to the cinematographer. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Halyna Hutchins’ widower and 10-year-old son.
