Susana Vieira was one of the main icons of Brazilian television series. The capricious and spectacular dark-haired woman was deservedly considered one of the sex symbols and shone in the central roles of such popular TV shows as “In the Name of Love”, “Castles in the Air” , “The secret of the tropical woman”. ” and others. Today she is already 80 years old, but she is still cheerful and even continues to act in films. Although she has had many hardships.
Sonia Maria Vieira Gonçalves (this is how our heroine was named at birth) was born, as they say, with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was born in the family of a diplomat. Her father, Marius Vieira, was a military attaché at the Brazilian embassy in Argentina.
As a child, the future star of the soap opera received an excellent education, and also managed to live in several countries – Argentina, Brazil and the UK. Susana also loved art, she dreamed of becoming a famous ballerina and took ballet very seriously. Suffice it to mention that his teachers were immigrants from the USSR. Vieira even graduated from the ballet school and entered the corps de ballet “Grande Teatro Tupi”, but soon realized that she still could not conquer the stages of the world and decided to try herself. as an actress.
So, soap operas appeared in Susana’s life – she started acting in the early 1960s. The peak of the actress’ career, however, came in the 1990s, when the cult Brazilian soap operas came out and gained fame abroad. Many loyal fans appeared to the actress at this time in Russia.
When “In the Name of Love”, “Cruel Angel”, “Castles in the Air” or “The Secret of the Tropical Girl” appeared on TV, Russian women dropped everything and glued themselves to the screens to see the luxurious life of Brazilian families, where serious passions boil.
One of Susana’s brightest and most memorable roles was in the TV series In the Name of Love, where she played the villainous Branca, an insidious egoist who doesn’t even care about his own children. exception of his pet, his son Marcel. In the story, Branca opposes his marriage to a girl of lower descent.
In the personal life of the actress herself, passions were also in full swing. Let’s start with the fact that Vieira was married three times. Her first husband in 1961 was director Régis Cardoso, from whom she gave birth to her only son Rodrigue. In the late 1980s, Susana married producer Carson Gardeabal, but this marriage was not her last.
True, Suzana made ties with creative men – her next chosen one was a simple policeman Marcelo Silva, who was 28 years younger than the actress. The marriage was stormy and short-lived. Two years later, the series star kicked her husband out of the house and filed for divorce after learning he had a mistress. And soon the man died of an overdose. Two months after Marcelo’s death, Suzana has revealed that her ex-husband stole money, jewelry and even filmed her taking a shower to blackmail her. In general, Viyera did not have a good memory of her third husband.
A year later, Suzana met a new love. And this man stands out against the background of all the chosen ones of the actress. No wonder, because this time Vieira fell in love with a magician! An aspiring wizard and actor named Sandro Pedroso was 41 years younger than Susana. And, by the way, we still don’t know who bewitched who here. After all, the man was crazy about the actress, whom he met at the carnival, and dreamed of marrying her. But the actress was in no rush to remarry, saying “it’s better to keep the relationship stable and live happily together under the same roof, without confusion.” Five years later, the couple are still separating.
A year later, in 2015, Susana was diagnosed with chronic lymphoma leukemia, a serious blood disease. There is no cure for this type of leukemia, but the disease can be controlled with regular courses of medication and chemotherapy. The actress decided not to talk about her diagnosis until 2018.
The actress admitted that at first she was very worried about how the diagnosis would affect her ability to work.
“I was proud to have lived to be 70 years old without any disease. I have worked in television for 50 years and I have never missed work due to illness. When I found out that I would live with this illness for the rest of my life, that scared me the most. I thought, ‘How am I going to work in such a state?’” the actress confessed.
But in the end, she managed to resume filming. Her family supported her in her recovery.
“Family has always been the most important thing to me. My son, his first wife, my current daughter-in-law, my grandchildren, my sisters, my brothers are the most important people in my life,” notes the actress.
Today, Viyera is still full of strength and optimism. During her life, she starred in more than 50 television series. However, his own life will eclipse all the plots of the most inventive screenwriters.
