Bald vs red: comparing Austin Butler and Sting as heroes of “Dune”

In the new adaptation by Denis Villeneuve, this role goes to Austin Butler, known for his role as Elvis Presley in the biopic of the same name. In a previous film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1984 fantasy novel, the character was portrayed by singer Sting.

Judging by the first photos of Butler in the picture, they did not focus on the old film, and visually the characters do not look alike at all. If Sting in the movie was fiery red, then Austin had to put up with more drastic makeup – his character is completely bald, which makes the character look even scarier (let’s not forget that the Harkonnens are still bad guys).

However, few people know that there was another Fade Routa – in the not so famous miniseries of 2000. There the hero was played by Matt Kislar – and his image is also different from the others.

These are such different interpretations of the same character! But it’s better for us – it won’t be boring to watch all three movies.
