The Russian fashion world was shocked by terrible news – Valentin Yudashkin died at the age of 60. Marina Yudashkina, who lived with him all her life – both in grief and in joy – suddenly became a widow. Their family union for many years was an example of true love and faithfulness. Let’s find out their story.
It was in recent decades that Yudashkin was a real star of the fashion industry, a designer who showed his collections in Paris, sheathed the main stars of Russian show business and dressed foreign stars of the first magnitude, for example, Lady Gaga.
But when Marina and Valentin met, everything was different. It was in 1987, we were not yet talking about fashion houses. Both worked at the Central Research Office of the Department of Public Services.
Yudashkin, 24, a recent graduate of the Moscow Industrial College, came to work there as a senior artist. Additionally, her duties included the duties of both makeup artist and fashion designer. Fortunately, in an educational institution he defended two dissertations at once – “History of the costume” and “Make-up and decorative cosmetics”. The young man was so busy that he sometimes had to spend the night at his place of work. On Yudashkin’s shoulders lay a great responsibility. For example, he created sketches for the equipment of the Soviet Union’s hairdressing team.

You may have the impression that Valentin absolutely did not have time to raise his head from the table, he still managed to notice a tall, spectacular girl named Marina among his colleagues. She was 29 and worked as a hairdresser.
The future couturier did not hesitate – after three dates, which took place mainly in a working environment, free time was sorely lacking for both of them, he called Marina to get married. And she immediately accepted with surprise.
A rushed wedding could be confusing to strangers. Well, what good is such a rush, when they haven’t really had time to get to know each other? But lovers did not react to skeptics – after all, they themselves knew that they had found true love.
Yudashkin sewed a wedding dress for his beloved, shattering the still popular superstition – supposedly, the groom should not see the bride’s outfit.
“Then, for the first time, I made her a dress. It was a wedding dress, very beautiful, all in orchids. This flower crosses all our life, I love orchids. The wedding was very beautiful, maybe now it was possible to invent more, but that was still then. I believe it was remembered for a lifetime, since we prepared, because they usually hide the groom’s dress, ”recalls Yudashkin.
In 1990, the couple had a daughter, Galina. And then the feelings had to be tested for their strength. No, they weren’t doubting each other – rather they were testing the power of love, the surrounding reality. The harsh 90s were in the yard, and Yudashkin had just started her own fashion business. To support her husband, Marina sold his fur coat, family antiques and a Zhiguli car. So there was money to open a workshop and prepare a collection. Moreover, it was Marina who initiated the sale – so she believed in her husband and wanted to help him. Yudashkin himself at that time had little time to help his wife, and yet the family had a small child. But Marina treated this with understanding – the main thing is that the spouse can create.
“When the child was born, we lived in a one-room apartment, there was nowhere to draw, but everything was so arranged in the house that I was not distracted by anything,” Yudashkin recalls him. even from this period.
A month after the birth of his daughter, the couturier presented his first collection in Paris.
Marina devoted her life to her husband, leaving her own job and helping her beloved in everything. And Yudashkin very much appreciated this support, saying that it was precisely such a woman he needed – the fashion designer, surrounded by the first beauties, had never looked at others in more than 30 years of marriage.
“I am conservative, I have a family. And that’s the point,” Yudashkin said firmly, noting how important it was for spouses to be like-minded people.
And Marina said that she was not one who loves with her ears – she always appreciated not words, but deeds. The couple managed to maintain peace at home – there were no scandals, especially with a child.
“The most important thing in life is not a compliment. The main thing is that there is no insult, ”Marina wisely noted.
In 2016, the family faces new challenges. Yudashkin began to have serious health problems. Soon it was known that he was battling cancer – esophageal cancer. The fashion designer began to appear less often in public. The development of the fashion house was taken over by her daughter Galina, while Marina traditionally surrounded her husband with care.
Treatment and support from relatives paid off: Yudashkin continued to work and began to attend events again. Marina encouraged her husband in every possible way, knowing how important the work was for him, and did not allow him to withdraw into himself. The woman tried to do everything so that Valentin Abramovich could continue to lead a familiar life. Well, Yudashkin showed incredible courage: the fashion designer underwent complex abdominal operations, and then, as always stylish and with a new haircut, nevertheless went out and presented new collections. In recent years, Yudashkin has lost a lot of weight, but doctors still managed to stabilize his condition.
And now the fatal news – the legendary Russian fashion designer has died after a long struggle with illness. Before his sixtieth birthday, he lived just over six months. Yes, a person’s life is cut short, but death will never erase what he has been through in love. Love that becomes eternal.
