Who did Russian stars want to be when they were kids?

Alexander Petrov

Alexander’s acting talent comes from his mother, who in her youth studied in a theater studio. And from dad – a love of football: as a child, the boy watched matches with Andrei Genrikhovich and learned the biographies of famous athletes. Sasha also played football himself: he played in the local club section, took part in city and regional championships. Sasha’s childhood dream is easy to guess – he wanted to become a professional athlete.

But chance got in the way. During summer training at school, a mountain of bricks fell on him. The boy received a serious head injury, and the doctors prohibited him from continuing to engage in active sports.

Then, at school, Petrov showed an acting sequence. In grades 6-7, he began portraying students and teachers at his school, which he did successfully, bringing his audience to tears of laughter. Thus in 2008, the young man entered the RATI (GITIS) for the first time and was even exempted from the entrance exams in several stages. And he returned to his childhood dream of a pitch and a ball – when he starred in the sports drama Streltsov.

Philip Kirkorov

Philip Kirkorov grew up in a creative family and has been touring with his parents since childhood. He first appeared on stage when he was three years old. Or rather, exhausted. Her mother Victoria Markovna worked as an artist for her father. Once at a concert, she announced Bedros’ performance. As soon as she had time to pronounce the “song of Arno Babajanyan”, little Philip appeared on stage and shouted out loud: “Memory!”. The room exploded with laughter. Thus, the future artist made his debut as an artist.

It seemed that the future of Kirkorov was determined, and the son of creative parents did not resist. But he did not want to sing, but to show tricks and work in the circus, like his grandparents. Alas, the dream of mastering the craft of an illusionist did not come true – in his youth, even the vocal career of the future star was in danger.

Philip planned to enter GITIS, but the teachers decided that his vocal abilities were not enough. After the failure at GITIS, Kirkorov went into a three-day depression, which his grandmother helped to cope with. She told her grandson in prophetic words that it was worth the wait – and that his phone would be cut off. And so it happened: Philip became a student at Gnessin Music College and began the path to the status of King of Pop.

Tina Kandelaki

On November 10, 1975, the daughter Tinatin appeared in the family of economist Givi Shalvovich and narcologist Elvira Georgievna. Their family was considered good and prosperous, not only because the parents successfully worked in the profession – Tina’s father belongs to a noble Georgian family. Mom and dad did not have to fear for the honor of the surname, since Tina could be safely called the pride of her parents. She studied well and was able to enter medical school, planning to become a plastic surgeon.

Dima Bilan

Dima was a lively child in kindergarten: he did not let anyone sleep during quiet hours, he took other children’s food, and once in winter he stuck his tongue to a pole. But in his vision of the future life he did not differ from most boys and dreamed of becoming an astronaut.

In second grade, the boy auditioned for the choir. The parents were not happy with this, because the father thought that his son should follow in his footsteps and become an engineer. A few years later, mom and dad agreed to teach the child music, and Bilan and his sister went to a music school. At first he studied the accordion, then moved on to the singing class – and this is how the musical path to the future Eurovision triumph began.

But dreams of space did not leave Dima. In 2011, the singer and his producer Yana Rudkovskaya said that the artist was saving money for space travel and dreamed of singing hundreds of kilometers from Earth. Those plans have yet to come to fruition – as Dima presents the Planet Bilan show from space, reminiscent of his dream.

Fedor Dobronravov

Dobronravov from an early age dreamed of becoming a clown. As a teenager, he began to attend a circus studio at the House of Culture at the Krasny Kotelshchik factory. There he mastered clown techniques, learned to do acrobatic stunts and juggle. At the Palace of Culture, he met his future wife Irina, who practiced dancing.

Following his dream, after graduating from school, Fedor went to Moscow to enroll in a circus school, but did not become a student and joined the army. After serving, Fedor returned home and decided to get married. Her father advised her to put her circus dream aside for a while and find a job that would help support her family. So Dobronravov became a factory worker, and in the evenings he continued to perform in the factory’s amateur shows.

For four years in a row, Fedor traveled to Moscow to enter the Shchukin school – and each time in vain. The actor recalled that rumors spread in the factory that he had a wife in Moscow, to whom he surrendered under the guise of entrance exams. After another failure, someone advised Dobronravov to try at the Voronezh Institute of Arts, where graduates of the Shchukin school teach. So, actor Dobronravov ended up in Voronezh. He entered the first time, and after graduating from the institute, he began working at the local youth theater and then at the Satyricon.

Valerie Meladze

Valery’s parents were far from art – in the Meladze family almost everyone had an engineering background. But dad liked to sing when he walked with the children on weekends, which bothered Valery terribly. He himself did not think about music, although his parents tried to instill a love of art in their son and sent him to a music school.

Meladze planned to become a pilot or a cosmonaut – he was even named after Valery Bykovsky, who flew into space shortly before the birth of the future stage star. The performer fulfilled his childhood dream until graduation – he planned to enter an aviation or radio engineering university. Due to confusion with conscription, Valery was late for exams – in order not to waste time, he had to submit documents to the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute, where his brother studied.

The decision proved fatal. While studying at the institute, Valery managed to get married and have a child, write a thesis and become a musician.
