Cancer, divorce and rape: the terrible fate of the actresses of the series “Charmed”

The series about the witch sisters “Charmed” was one of the most popular of the 1990s and zero, but fame did not become a talisman against the blows of fate for actresses. Let’s remember how their life went and what they look like now.

Shannen Doherty – Caution

In the series, the actress played the older sister, who died in the third season finale at the hands of the demon Sheks. At the time of filming, Shannen was already a popular actress – her role as Brenda Walsh in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 made her famous. But if the career of the actress first developed successfully, then in her personal life Shannen seemed to be bewitched. With men, she was not so lucky – she married three times, but each time she divorced. There were no children from these marriages.

And with former fiancé Dean Factor, the Max Factor heir, Doherty completely broke with a scandal. They got engaged in 1993, but soon the actress’ lover accused her of domestic violence and asked the court to ban her from approaching him. Dean claimed that Shannen threatened him and promised that she would hire thugs to beat and rape Factor.

After personal storms, Shannen’s life plunged into new darkness. In 2015, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, underwent difficult treatment, but in 2020 the actress admitted that the disease returned and progressed to the 4th stage.

Holly Marie Combs – Piper

The actress played the middle of the sisters – the most modest and calm, as her character was described. She started acting in films at the age of thirteen. However, perhaps it was “Charmed” that had such a big impact on her life: they brought incredible popularity, but at the same time made her tired and devastated by the cinema.

“I needed to live a real life, to have real experiences, to reconnect with my family and friends that I ignored for eight years,” the actress recalled how she felt at the end of the filming.

Then Combs took a career break. However, there was something for it – in 2004 she married David Donoho, who worked at the Charmed site, and gave birth to three children from him. It was her second husband (the first was actor Brian Travis Smith). But the children did not seal the marriage – in 2011 the family broke up. Now the actress is married to restaurateur Mike Ryan.

Alyssa Milano – Phoebe

The role of the youngest witch went to Alyssa Milano, who, however, was also far from a beginner. Audiences knew her from her roles in Melrose Place and Poison Ivy 2: Lily.

In the personal life of the actress, everything also did not happen by magic – and she had to endure. Her first serious love is Canadian actor Corey Haim, whom she dated for three years in the late 1980s. Milano’s bright feelings were overshadowed by Corey’s addiction, from which the actress tried to save him , but she succeeded. In 1990, they separated and 20 years later, the man died as a result of his addictions.

After that, Alyssa was able to establish a serious relationship with actor Scott Wolf – it was about engagement, but not marriage. Several years later, the actress admitted that she had two abortions at that time – she does not regret her actions, because, according to her, she was not ready to become a mother. This will, apparently, appeared in her in 2011. It was then that Milano gave birth to their first child, son Milo, in marriage with sports agent David Bagliari. The couple also have a daughter, Elizabeth. The path to this family idyll, however, also passes through tragedy – in 2009, Alyssa suffered a miscarriage.

Rose McGowanPaige

Rose “replaced” Shannen Doherty on the show. Her heroine was introduced right after Prudence’s death. McGowan played the half-sister of heroines already familiar to the audience.

Rose herself was also very famous. Even before the release of the first season of the series, the actress was already shocking the public with her daring red carpet outfits in the company of Marilyn Manson, with whom she dated from 1997 to 2001. When, years later, various women accused the musician of harassment, Rose supported them, although she noted that Manson was not like that with her.

However, the actress still had to survive the rape. The man who shattered her life was producer Harvey Weinstein, who would only be held accountable years later. Rose will be one of the first Hollywood actresses to bring charges against him.

In the early 2000s, the actress had a string of short romances, which were cut short after she met director Robert Rodriguez. He tried to help Rose restart her film career, knowing her issues with Weinstein, and cast her in Death Proof and Planet Terror. The actress and the director even got engaged, but in 2009 they broke off the engagement. After that, the actress was married to artist Davey Detail, but she also divorced.

The actress never gave birth to children, although she was pregnant once – then Rose chose an abortion and later admitted that she did not regret the act.

Another twist of fate was a car accident that happened to McGowan in 2007. Then she had to undergo several plastic surgeries, as the glasses damaged her eyes and face.
